FINSTER
Have just got today a new air filter from envy to replace my HKS one. Its the one they recommend as as good if not better than the Apexi. I am fitting it in the morning but it has no where for the air flow meter to go in. I am ok just to cable tie this next to the filter or will this freak out the management system - any experience of this? (the HKS one had a whole in the tubing - but this one is solid. Homer
Presumably you have a UK car, are you sure you didn;t order one for the Jspec? Jspec's don't have an airflow meter What is better than an Apexi though? Edited to add - do not run the car with the airflow meter outside of the intake!! Ray
Just to clarify do you mean air filter? Or induction kit?
FINSTER
Yes its a j-spec supra and its an induction kit. The filter is an Air Impulse II. But the metal pipe has no place for the air flow meter (am i wrong _ is the sensor that sits in the air box not the air flow meter?). Balls want to get it on in the morning but getting stressed about this. HELLLPPPPP

Air impluse II - PMSL never heard of it, sounds like something from a deodorant company!
FINSTER
Jay, the car I have is a N/A - it had the HKS kit on it when I bought the car but put the original box back on as everyone said the HKS mushroom was pants. Took the plug out of the HKS and it went into the original air box. Its a black plug that sits in the side of the filter- is this not an air flow meter and if not what is it???? Its there for sure as I took it out of the HKS and put it in the std. air box!! But the car is a j-spec

Homer
Sorry dude, ignore what I said before, had presumed its a TT for some reason. I recommend you give Envy a call tomorrow and ask for advice, they're decent guys so should be able to sort out the problem right away.

Homer
Has the car had an engine change - am i stressed now are what!!!!! The engine numbers match - pooooooooooooo:drown: Very, very, extremely unlikely, unless there's two turbo's sat under there you have nothing to worry about (plus, you'd know it if you did have them!). I can't remember whether the NA's have an air flow sensor, but I think they might have. Best wait till tomorrow to either speak to Envy or wait for someone who knows what they're talking about to post on this thread
FINSTER
Well it appears that the plug is an air temp sensor - not an air flow meter - it appears some people just leave it cable tied by the filter (sounds a bit crap - it must be there for some reason). I will ring envy in the morning - really dont want to be drilling big holes in the pipework that i just spent 130 notes on.
weinelm
I have an NA, I think the sensor you are talking about is an intake temperature sensor. Mine fell out once and the car still ran, but I would think you should try and find somewhere to put it with your new filter. Unfortunately I can't offer any suggestions on this. Edited - Ah didn't read the last post there!
Alex
Have you tried talking to Envy about it?

FINSTER
Spoke to envy this morning and they told me on the N/A the sensor will light up a warning light on the dash if enough air is not going through - its to let you know your panel filter is blocked. If you change to the induction kit the sensor can be left out and cable tied neatly somewhere and it will make no difference - the warning light will not come on. I had a friend who was going to drill a hole for it but they said dont bother as its not worth the hassle. So chaps the result is - tomoorow i take the stock box out and put in the new filter (i prefer the sound of the induction and have made a heat shield in aluminium so thats why i dont want to leave the stock box in yeSSSSSSSSSSS i have heard all the reasons to leave the panel one in) ANYWAY thanks to everyone on here for your help especially at 2am this morning!!!!! FINSTER
Have you had both cats taken out of your exhaust or just one? Did you take them out at time of fitting your RSR? Next thing i am changing is the exhaust - today got some Advan 18" to put on - all exciting you know!
