GazzaGSi
Willing to try anything. Plus if its not a spare is always handy for future use and at a good price. Also been informed though it could be a dicky fuel pump, do you know where these are located? Thanks
Whitesupraboy2
fuel pump is in the boot under the spare wheel and everything its actually in the fuel tank Hmm if it is dicky fuel pump, i wonder if the 12volt mod would help it. Though it may kill it off permantly then lol But as we are NA's not sure you can do the 12Volt mod on a NA pump
GazzaGSi
Oh right, didnt know that. Thanks. How can I check if the fuel pump is getting a good feed. Is the fuel filter also under the spare wheel? Cheers
Whitesupraboy2
no i dont think it is, follow fuel line and ull get to it I really dont know how you would check a fuel pump for the feed to be honest!
GazzaGSi
Ok thanks for the help. Do you know if there are any common places where hoses could split or I could lose a vacum? Just thinking of things to try now. Cheers Gaz
Whitesupraboy2
Not really, ive been reading your problem it is weird. The worse part is probably at the end it will be something simple, i hate it when its like that! Your doing right investigating yourself, i always hate to think how much it cost for garage to look at something like this! If i get any ideas mate ill post up. GazzaGSi
Ive blown £45 on a mobile mechanic, £60 at a garage and in total over £50 on parts they recommended and it still isnt right so im going to go though everything myself. May take me awhile but will end up being alot cheaper in the long run. Plus it will give me a better understanding of the car and what goes where anyway. Whitesupraboy2
Im working on my car at weekend, Whilst under there ill try and think of what may be wrong with yours, what exactly happens? is it random? only do it when warm or cold? any other info? we may as well hijack ur thread seeing as you've got the ECU now lol
GazzaGSi
lol It can happen anytime at all. Its been fine all week and then went to start it last night and got half way down my road and it happened. I do not know if you have downloaded the clip in the other thread but at the end of the clip you can hear how it sounds when it switches in to this 'faulty' mode. Its sounds awful, with no power and will not hold the revs if I let off the throttle. One of the reasons though why I think it is the ECU playing up is because it only started happening when I jump started another car - possibly spiking it or something. I have since heard its best to keep the blower on so if there is a spike it will just spin them fasterand not damage anything else. Cheers for your help. Whitesupraboy2
it does sound electrical type of problem. I hope ECU does solve your problem. If not i wonder if one of the sensors got effected from the jump start and is now faulty. When it goes lumpy is it like a misfire type of lumpy, like all cylinders arent firing? GazzaGSi
Yes like a mifire. Like your trying to start it with the leads connected to the wrong plugs. Thanks again.
Whitesupraboy2
im wondering if you damaged the ECU and it loses the MAP because uve burnt out a solder track on the board, it cant get the map sometimes (i.e get access to chip) and thats why it is intermitant. If the new ECU fixes it, it may be worth pulling other ECU apart and fixing track (if possible), put it back in your Car and test, for peice of mind that definatly was the problem.
