geoffvalenti
i expect that whale is having a whale of a time I very much doubt that he is I'm sure he feels as panicked as you would, if you suddenly found yourself in the middle of the ocean, surrounded by whales. I really worry about his long term prognosis, which can only have taken a turn for the worse, now that the media have turned the episode into a circus spectacular :thumbdown

geoffvalenti
it was ment as a joke mate what i said . the whale is prob having a terrible time at the I'm sure that it was, and I wasn't trying to have a dig at you. It's just sometimes these days, the media bring public attention on things that are probably best left to those that know what they are doing and can deal with the situation with the whale's (in this instance) best interests in mind. I'm sure that those who've travelled to London especially to see the creature, mean it no harm, but gawping at it, when it is obviously troubled and frightened, and treating it like a some kind of tourist attraction, shows just what strange beings the human race can be at times
sim
you would think that they would stop all boats coming up stream and try and get the whale down stream so that theres no obstacles in the way of the whale
geoffvalenti
you would think that they would stop all boats coming up stream and try and get the whale down stream so that theres no obstacles in the way of the whale I agree, but unfortunately boats coming upstream mean money, and heaven forbid anything as insignificant as a whale's life, getting in the way of the God of money
Green Peace
Im so upset to hear that the Whale died yesterday..I only found out this morning. Here is the full story http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/uk/4635440.stm A friend of mine who plays the piano on a Caribbean cruise ship told me earlier on msn (live from his ship) that the story had taken The U.S. by storm..he saw it on CNN America! I agree with Geoff..I am disgusted by the media and the stupidity of the human race. Seriously upset to see it in distress, whilst the whole world with all our technology and know how..just stands by gawping and cheering like they do when they go to see animals in captivity at a Circus. very sad to witness a poor distressed creature swimming aimlessly to the end of its life...I'd heard several experts suggest that lifting it would hold a high chance of giving it a heart attack..but obviously money is far more important I guess they just wanted it out of the Thames...we humanity should be ashamed of ourselves! Im depressed now:bye:
Pete
Don't be depressed. I believe it was going to die anyway. Even if it had found its way back to the ocean it would've been discovered on the coast somewhere later. That's the way these things go. I feel the same when I go to london - I just want to keel up and die. All the smog and people. Ugh.
KaoriFan
i was sad to see the poor whale had died last night at 7PM UK time. to see it in the distressed state it was, maybe it even knew it was the end, who knows. Seems to be happening more often these days, with whales finding their way into coastal waters or beaching themselves. really in this day, i am sure more could have been done, and more resources put into saving it. but as usual so many couldnt give a damn, if it doesnt affect them. kind of a sad representation of the human race. maybe our 'wonderful' government (sarcastic) or someone in power, could have done something and helped in some way with resources. then again they have their heads stuck up their backside, they dont care unless it directly affects them. I bet if one of Ruth Kelly's kids had been abused at school, she would have acted a damn sight faster and made things more tighter control as well.. not sure how the papers handled the story either, but hope they were considerate. i have live and let live attitude to life. but i am sure the jokes will start in the media/TV, at some animals suffering . if only they thought how they would feel if it was their own animal that people were laughing at. the story made Fox News as well in the US and CCTV4 & 9 in China ah well, another depressed person here, knowing this happened, still it wont go through days of suffering which is one thing whale watching is an amazing experience, i did it when over in BC a few years ago, and when you see the size of them, its amazing being so close rant over, going outside for a while to cool off edited as i put 'amother' instead of 'another' :|

Terry Nutkins (who speaks the truth!) was on 5 live yesterday saying that it probably would have perished in deep water anyway after all the stress of human contact and media circus etc, can't believe it caused so much hype - has no one heard of sea world if they're really that bothered. Thanks for making me laugh anyway was sad when i heard this morning after missing it yesterday...
Green Peace
Ok Group hug everyone...maybe that whale hasn't died in vain!!!! Lets all send a donation to a 'save the whale' charity I'm not religeous but in a way it would be like Jesus dying to save mankind...the whale swam right up to the Houses Of Parliment...maybe it did it for a reason! to bring attention to the plight of its kind thats happening on a daily basis out in the oceans! They say they are intelligent...how intelligent was that to get the world to stop and watch for a whole afternoon! Im going to send a small donation somewhere (to ease my concience coz Im British i guess lol) Im not sure where to send it though..any ideas? (only about £20 coz im not very rich but if everyone did, it would hopefully help stamp out the babaric cruelty of Whaling in our oceans...I think it should also be discussed in Prime Ministers question time next week seen as the whale went to so much effort and virtually knocked on their door)
Bobbeh
It sucks.. they tried their best which is the main thing They didnt have to try at all and it would have probably beached itself further upstream anyway.

True....I guess so..Also I suppose the media although hungry for a story in the same way that the Whaling ships are hungry to make money...at least brought this sad story into our living rooms and touched us all...maybe that was a good thing in away to raise our awareness in some way of just how important and delicate our fellow mammals are and maybe the world should be a little more sensitive! Bob have ya got any happy pills? Going to find a reputable whale charity now..not sure about Greenpeace there must be others, I'll do a search! But you're right we should all start giving a f*ck, its just hard when you have to run a house, pay for a car and just basically live! I was offered a charitable giving bank card the other day though but i took the cashback option, i'm crap..i do give £4 a month to cancer research tho, don't miss it etc.. Green Peace
Maybe you could give your profits from car sale to RSPCA??? - lol im not that charitable he he Good point though.....but in all honesty im not sure it would end up in the right place £2 in every £3 pound that is raised for some charities is actually swallowed up in admin costs.... Cancer Research is a very worthy cause...us lot aint that rich though and there is so much money and wealth in this world that often its always the people that have fuck all that are the only ones who dig deep in their pockets! I need to sell my car to build for the future...its all career orientated..when im better off then I will be a bit more generous...but happy to make a £20 donation....not that it will make much difference but i feel the Whale made all that effort and I dont want it to be in vain bless I like you Charlotte..you are a kind person:rolleyes:
