Ok, must be 1.4 or a bit less.

Must be reliable, pref low mileage, max £500. long mot and tax preferred.

nothing too dodgy but rover/escort that kinda thing I guess.

Didn't you learn from the last Rover?? ;)

Just open Autotrader...local area £0-1000 see what you get.

my first rover someone else wrote off, nowt else major wrong with it. second one I paid £400 and it died after 2 years- which is longer than expected, this one has a dodgy gear box but it still drives and is in fantastic condition. so all i've learnt is that as far as any old cheap car goes they are all much of a much!!

i know i can look in trader but i'd rather buy from someone who's more likely to be honest and give someone i know the money. autotraders useless for cars anyway, out of every 100 you ring 99 of them are sold and the other 1 is not sold for a very good reason!!

You can have my Renault.

The distributor advance is held together with a biro lid, the speedo cable snapped, the throttle cable is on one strand of wire (new cable in the boot), one of the lights behind the speedo broke, intermittent wipers don't work, the exhaust is blowing badly (£33 to repair apparently), the rear offside door needs to be slammed to shut it, one of the speakers is blown and the radio looks like it was a prototype of some kind from the 18th century.

However; it runs fine all day every day (apart from the usual crap associated with cold starts on carbs and manual chokes!!), there is some rust but it's not falling apart yet, seems to average 40mpg, if you can replace the dizzy and stop it pinking it might go over 70 mph as well.

£offers

:D

gonna mot it before it sells, nothing wrong with it but its just sat in my garage collecting dust, didn't see the point in putting an mot on it untill she goes to use it.

dave- my local papers are rubbish for it, like I say I will look at these but I thought I'd ask on here too so someone in the club can have the money and also I'd like to think they are more trustworthy... been stung so many times buying cars from papers etc.

Thought it might help out 2 members in 1 go :D

Trev- kinda after something we can just get in and use, not have to fix bits immediately, also, I think I'd get shot it I bought a French car... but thanks :)

I've just purchased a 1988 renault 5 1.7 GTX

52000miles on the clock!!!!

Full service history!!!!!

1 owner from new (A guy I work with's recently departed dearly missed gran!)

For the princely sum of 150 of her majesties pounds!

£250 insurance from sky! (T.P.F.T - no legal assistance!)

Edit:- Actually just realised. That's of absolutely no use to you whatsoever. That'll teach me to hammer the 'ole vino as soon as I get home!

Renault Clio 1.4 RT's aren't bad. Paid 600 for my last one (2 and a bit years ago) but I've just about killed it now (30k+ miles later of minimal servicing and thrashing it lol) but they are good cars, not too basic, get all the mod cons (electric windows, central locking, RPM counter, fogs etc) that you want from a little car and they have colour coded bumpers too :)

I'm tempted to look for another, seems they turn up for around £500 every so often in a, well looked after by old person type way, make a great 2nd car for A to B stuff, 50mpg + cheap insurance etc - not good if you must have an estate though, but just a thought.

really appreciate the offer but thats a bit much for me... if it was a once in a lifetime supra i'd consider it :)

clios are too small, I can only just get 5 bales of shavings in the rover, the clio would struggle with 3 i reckon!!!
