Guest davet
:sos: :sos: :sos: Hi all, after asking my local garage to MOT my Supra and change the Oil for 10W-50 as usual they actually put in the motul 15W-50. I'm now finding that at low revs before the turbo's kick in i can only describe as a slight constant highish pitched "woo woo" sound. More disturbing was this morning though. I turned the ignition and it sounded like i had bee's under my bonnet!!! Really loud. If I gave it a few revs it got louder. When i turned the steering wheel either way it was extremely loud. Could this be something up with the power steering mechanism? After about 5-6 minutes of normal driving the bee noise stopped and everything was back to the normal bar the slight "woo woo" sound under the bonnent. Any ideas guys? merckx
The 15W-50 stuff should be fine. I can only think they've put in the wrong amount. The first thing I would do would be to check the level. Hope they didn't go for a drive and totally screw the car.
ardasaliah
is the woo sound under boost? woos generally come from the air filter area- have a check and see if alls well.
Marco
Before my turbos broke they made a 'wooo' sound as well in low revs. Like merckx said, they might have taking your car for a drive, worst case is when they floor it when the engine and turbo's are still cold! Did you right down your milage when you dropped of the car?
Guest davet
They only did a couple of miles. It's actually a mate of my dad's who did his car for about 20 years with no probs ever. he did have to take off the air filter though to "unfog" my lights. Maybe I'll take another look at this. Its only really noticeable before boost occurs and the revs go up. but even if it was the airfilter i don't understand why when i'm stationary and turn the steering wheel it sounds worse? I'm feeling sad. Was supposed to go racing it at Oulton Park for my brithday present from my bro but can't now

SimonB
Turning the wheel causes the power steering pump to put more load on the engine, which can increase engine revs so that would explain why doing that changes things. Can't think what would cause your problem in the first place though!
Guest davet
ok well next question then. Where should I take it for a look near Leeds? There is no way I'm ever going back to Toyota Bradford after what happened last time. I'd take it up to Envy in Newcastle but don't really have time for a few days that way. Any other suggestions?
