wilko
i am currently getting about 11-12 mpg from mkiv n/a auto i have tested for fault codes are none are present . the 2nd cat has been removed and im running a stainless exhaust system, with blitz sus air filter, and iridium spark plugs, car is always serviced regularly i only have a 4 mile trip to work and am wondering if this poor mpg is due to short distance travel any ideas welcomed . jamesmark
the o2 senor, or lambar sensor (dunno if that the spelling) that went faulty on my mondeo (all cars should have them) and i was acheiving 25mpg on a 55mph run to scotland 240 miles so i got it tested and promtly changed and i got 38mpg after that, but 4 miles is not a lot so better maybe taking the bus as your in no way doing your car any favours using it for such short distances, probably doing it harm
geoffvalenti
i only have a 4 mile trip to work and am wondering if this poor mpg is due to short distance travel any ideas welcomed . It certainly isn't helping. This time of year the car wouldn't get warm in that distance, so would be running rich all the time. Saying that 12 mpg is very poor for an N/A. Do you drive it hard? wilko
not really hard, and had an mot since de cat and emissions still very low. it has got me stumped, 20 quid for 50 miles is terrible i might as well have a ford gt40
jamesmark
i still maybe your o2 sensor as that might not technically show up on your emissions my ford didnt

JohnA
they don't appear to cater for the MKIV sensors though
ChrisSZ
Will the universal one not fit?? I've not looked at my 02 sensor yet but they were very helpful when I needed one for my GT4 - could be worth giving them a call??
wilko
been talking to supra tuners they have said because all i do is short journeys there is every chance the spark plugs are fouled up and this combined with the shaort runs will be killing economy i will get back to everyone and let them now the outcome

wilko
just to let you all know i have changed the plugs today and luckily because you have to take off the throttle body we found it was seriously caked up with black deposit, we have cleaned it and all appears well:)
