oilman
I don't deal with Royal Purple, so can't really comment on it, but you need an ATF that meets the Toyota Type 4 spec. Red Line D4 is about as good as ATF gets and others like the Fuchs ATF4400 and Millers SPIII are very well proven. Cheers Tim

oilman
That's more suited to a 5 speed box than the 6 speed, unless heavily modified. Cheers Tim
Scott
Yeah I didn't fancy the 300 at all. My gearbox changes with my little finger with no 'notchyness' so I'd rather use ATF than try a thicker oil with potential wear issues down the road. bebby
So what oil do you recommend for an A02A diff as I've been to Toyota and they were clueless. Searched a lot but can't find anything on it? Is it just 75w-90 like the LSD or something different
oilman
Hi The diff needs a 75w-90 GL5 oil. http://www.opieoils.co.uk/c-673-75w-90-mtfs-manual-transmission-fluid.aspx The Fuchs Syn 5, Millers CRX, Red Line 75w-90 GL5, Motul Gear 300 and Gulf Competition are ideal for the diff. The Fuchs Sintopoid, Castrol Syntrax Longlife, Millers TRX, Motul Motylgear, Mobil SHC and Gulf Syngear are also good choices. mellonman
Whats better for a single turbo pushing the stock auto trans Millermatric spiii Or Furch titain 4400 Or is there any other choices ?
oilman
Either of those are good options, but the Red Line D4 is the best option. http://www.opieoils.co.uk/p-1025-red-line-d4-synthetic-automatic-transmission-fluid.aspx Cheers Tim

alibabba
How is Motul dexron III for the auto trans? and how does it compare to Motul ATF 1A? http://www.opieoils.co.uk/p-889-motul-dexron-iii-fluid-for-automatic-gearboxes-power-steering-systems.aspx
oilman
Hi It's more basic, it's not really up to the job. From Motul, the Multi ATF is the one you need. Cheers Tim
alibabba
Thank you Tim. Just to double check. I have a bone stock TT auto 77k miles. Differential: motul gear 75w90 (2x 1liter) http://www.opieoils.co.uk/p-899-motul-gear-300-75w-90-fully-synthetic-racing-car-gearbox-diff-oil.aspx Autobox: fuchs titan atf 4400 (2x 1liter) http://www.opieoils.co.uk/p-60163-fuchs-titan-atf-4400-automatic-transmission-fluid-for-japanese-cars.aspx Engine: motul 300v chrono 10w40 (3x 2liter) http://www.opieoils.co.uk/p-865-motul-300v-chrono-10w-40-racing-10w40-car-engine-oil.aspx Brakes: motul rbf600 (4x 500ml) http://www.opieoils.co.uk/p-894-motul-rbf-600-factory-line-racing-fully-synthetic-dot-4-brake-fluid-rbf600.aspx Is this enough to change everything? Do I need more or less? Or is this total overkill for a stock tt? Thanks again
oilman
Hi They are all very good choices, except I would go for 300V 5w-40, unless you are in a hot climate. I think 1.5L will do the brakes, but I'm not sure on the autobox change capacity. My data lists 1.9L, but that doesn't seem a lot, most autos take quite a lot more than that. Cheers Tim
alibabba
Thanks Tim! I've changed my order to 5W40 and added 1L extra fuchs 4400. Since I will not be doing a flush it should be sufficient.
Jellybean
Hi Tim My Friend is running a Skyline R33 GTST , OEM tubbie, OEM cams , fairly standard car inlet cam was nearly seized in the head , on a recent track day hottest the oil(Millers NanoDrive CFS 10w50 - freshly changed) got was 110c when hammering it. cooled down quickly on cool down laps back down to 90c ish , the tuner said the nanodrive oil is so good that it litterly slips off the parts on the top of the engine and drains back offering little or no cold start protection Tuner said 10W60 mobil1 coats the parts better and doesn't drain as quick Common sense to me ,It won't drain as quick because it's thicker, if millers was that bad at protecting parts , engines would be failing left right and centre but what is your view on this?
oilman
While that Mobil might be draining slower, it will eventually drain down completely, so by the next morning, there will be no oil. Then as it's thicker, it will take longer to get around the engine when cold, so less cold start protection than the Nanodrive, which is an ester based oil, so it will leave a coating of oil on the parts and not completely drain down.
