Providing it's the old gatso style camera and not the new ones (Which I don't think flash), then he's fine...

I've heard many stories about this, from it breaking anti-privacy laws to it having no film in, but from experience, I've been flashed whilst approaching lots of times, and haven't heard a single thing...

I'd tell him not to worry about it...

yeah the only ones that cath you fron the front is the ultra violet ones that have one big lense and a small lense (one of the lenses is purple) the rest have to catch you from behind (ooer)

i have lost count how many times i have been flashed from the front (ooer again) and not been booked

This link will explain the only camera which can do you from the front...

However, should your numberplate be off (For show reasons of course), and your tax disc has fallen out... And it's sunny so you have the visor down...

(Note : These aren't common across the UK (Yet...), but there's plenty on the roads around Santa Pod and Silverstone... And you don't get much notice on the winding country lanes around there...)

ok the first one is a red light camera gets you from behind, the second one is the one that probably flashed you tonight both one and two can only catch you from behind

now the third is the bastard its ultra violet and catches you from the front and there are NO MARKINGS on the road apart from three thin lines going right accross the road from kirb to kirb covering about and they are that close together that you are over them in about 6 inches and if you pass that your booked no point in late breaking

Just for info...Dont know if people know this or not, but the mobile vans can take picture of both sides of the road. So from the front or the back. I asked one of the van drivers the other day. He confirmed this

That's correct, I've currently got a case on at the moment :( - They got me from the rear...

However, according to my solicitor, I should be walking away smiling :D...

I thought they had to get a picture of the driver too, but....... he said not anymore

They're prosecuting me even though they got me from the rear, and I had heavilly blacked out windows (It's on my old Chav-libra)...

My solicitor currently has the pictures, but when I get them back, if this is still a relevant topic, I'll scan them and get them up...

Going back to the types of camera, there is another type we've not mentioned yet, that is the stealthiest of all, SPECS...

The info about it can be found here : http://www.speedcamerasuk.com/SPECS.htm
