SupraStar 3000
Just had a warning from my "Director" about wasting electricity WTF!!! I work in a graphics studio as senior designer/graphics co-ordinator and we have NEVER had a electric heater or any heating device in the office. Last year is was so cold I told the guys in the studio I was going to buy them an electic heater out of my own money so we wouldn't freeze this winter. In the same room we have just installed 3 new computers, 2 large format printers and a MASSIVE laminator (2800w). Bill drops through the letter box, director reads the bill (£900 - norm £300) and holds ME responsible and MY little electric heater. B@STARD!! btw: the only radiators in the building are coincidently around the directors desk in his office. DOUBLE B@STARD!! not in a good mood

SupraStar 3000
Thats bad! How cold does it get there without your heater? put it this way, I have a liquid filled mouse mat and in winter after a cool night my mat would crunch as the liquid ice started to brake apart whilst I used the mouse. SupraStar 3000
have you got TFT or CRT screens? get a few CRT's and use them to heat the room up! We have mostly TFT's LOL, good idea. It seems 90% of the heat in our office is generated from the lights.

how_supra
errrr the cost of electricity and gas has risen by some ridiculous percentage what do they expect? Our quarterly electric bill has risen from about £30k to £50k. [so they've removed two out of every four bulbs from our lighting. ] Tell em to shove it. how_supra
Told him that paperwavers hate them. turn off all of the heating, get a cold, then let them suffer from efficiency problems when all their staff are ill at home?
Gaz Walker
Ah, now I remember the reason why I left a company like that and became self employed Gaz.
Charlotte
so do you have to stop using the heater then? We don't have heating here either except small wall heater which take half the day to heat up....the toilet is in an outhouse type thing which doesn't make for pleasant visits in the winter... Soop Dogg
Taken from the FAQ page of the HSE site: The temperature in workrooms should normally be at least 16 degrees Celsius unless much of the work involves severe physical effort in which case the temperature should be at least 13 degrees Celsius. These temperatures may not, however, ensure reasonable comfort, depending on other factors such as air movement and relative humidity.’ So if it falls below this, then threaten to walk out. See how much that costs him!
SupraStar 3000
LOL well,... after the sale’s girl found out and went ballistic at him he admitted the laminator together with a few other factors had more of an impact than my poxie heater. After negotiations we have agreed to uncover and use the old studio rads,.. so thats a result for me as I get to use the heater at home in the garage whilst working on the soop "DON’T LET THE BASTARDS GRIND YOU DOWN"
