hadyn
Im going to attempt this at the pod on Sunday if I get to run in my auto. 1. OD off 2. MANU on 3. Engage 2nd gear from idle 4. Powerbrake to 2k rpm 5. Launch 6. Change into 3rd manually just before redline. Do you think this will reduce my 1/4 through using the tried and tested technique of powerbrake and leave the car engaged in D with the OD off? Guest slow dog
practise your rpm on the line try and get the rpm as high as you can before the wheels start to spin i use low to start revs faster in low tubbies will spin up faster if the revs get up there faster = faster time
hadyn
Im very concious of cooking the autobox paul, so i just rev and hold to 2k just at the lights go to orange. So you're saying that starting off in 2nd is a good thing?

veilsideTT
As far as my experiences I'm pretty sure that the gearbox (only in MANU mode) will get itself into the gear you select as soon as its possible. So: You put it in second and as soon as your revs get to a point where the box thinks its good enough for 2nd to take over, it will change. I lost a race like this a long while ago. think it changed up from 1st to 2nd at about 3000rpm! Very

hadyn
My supe with just cat back and crap tyres + pod surface in decent weather = drift for the 1st 60ft nearly clipping the wall.... Think about it...
letmeshowyou
Haydn what was your logic behind starting in second? Also... does taking the fuse out make that much more of a difference than turning it off?!
hadyn
Haydn what was your logic behind starting in second? Recently got a recorded 0-60 of 4.5s and i mistakenly had my auto in 2 rather than D. Previous best was 4.7ish in D.

ChrisB
For drag strip i always put it in manu mode, then put it in 1st brake on heavy rev to about 2k, floor it off the line and change gear just before the limiter, managed a 12.55 on bpu with it very consitant aswell

ChrisB
Mines quite a bit up on power compared to yours for both being bpu i know rolling roads give different readings but thats a massive difference mines 396@ hubs from thor or 398 summit like that cant remember now. Practicing is fun though so get cracking
Soop Dogg
Don't launch in 2nd if you have it in MANU mode. Launch in 1st. In MANU mode, if you put it in 2nd you move off in 2nd. It will not go into 1st. That feature is put there to allow you to pull away in 2nd on snow and the like. It will truly screw your 1/4 times.
