DShox
Hi, When i imported my TT it had 64k on the clock. I am aware that Soops should have a service at 60k. On landing, Bonsai said they changed the filters, plugs etc. Now soops have a service light right? so can i take comfort in the fact that this is off, meaning the guy in Jap wouldve changed the cam at 60k like he should have? Thanks, D
Whitesupraboy2
i havent got a service light
Pete
Now soops have a service light right? Wrong. Which one do you think is service light? It's not like a light on your dash is going to inspect your belt for wear anyway
Mike
if in doubt - change it... not worth the risk... should be done at 60k or 6years(?)
Jake
soops have a service light right? No mate, not right.
Ian W
i wouldn't assume so mate. i'd get it done anyway for peace of mind although the 2jz is supposedly a 'non-interference' engine anyway so if it did snap you 'should' be ok. take a look at the belt itself, mate. if it's just been done the belt should look brand new shouldn't it? supRo
sorry one more - how do you see the cambelt - remove engine cover? You probably won't be able to 'See' the wear on it!
Ian W
You probably won't be able to 'See' the wear on it! no, but if the belt has only just been changed then there's a slight possibility that you'll be able to tell if it's a brand new belt

Bobbeh
If its been replaced it should have a sticker on the belt telling you at what mileage it was replaced at or when its next due. If not, chances are its not been done.
DShox
thanks will take a look. local garages in ux are quoting stupid prices - 200 +VAT; 230 + VAT; 270 + VAT - i think because they've never done em before they are estimating massive labour time and quoting 80 + VAT for the belt. Bobbeh
Its about 2-3 hours labour @ £70 an hour @ Toyota from what I can recall, I bought the belt for 12£ from the US and got it fitted ok Shouldnt cost much more than 200 in total.
