Chris Wilson
I always thought later manual six speed TT's had a nicer shift than earlier ones, i have just discovered that there was a synchro modification on later (facelift?) boxes, then a ratio change for the VVTi models, so it wasn't my imagination or just that older boxes were, err, older! JohnA
Even so, the older boxes would also be longer in the tooth so they wouldn't be as smooth anyway, would they?
Alex
Even so, the older boxes would also be longer in the tooth so they wouldn't be as smooth anyway, would they? Erm surely that depends on mileage, maintenance and abuse levels. If it sat on the shelf for 12 years it should...work as new!
Guest Terry S
They are different boxes ( V160 vs V161), but I would say earlier cars had a shorter throw shifter, so we put a new OEM for a 94 car in mine
