Amazon DVD rentals: Any good?

My lady is thinking of signing up for the Amazon online DVD rentals thingy. In summary you get 3 DVDs at a time from a sort of "wish list". No time limit on them sending back. Pre-paid return envelopes. When you send one back you get the next one from your list. All this for £5.99 per month and you can cancel at any time. Sounds almost too good to be true! :)

Anyone have any experience of this or any other online DVD rental scheme? There are alternatives, but you seem to get the most for your money with Amazon.

Yeh i used to use lovefilm, everything was fine with them and cancelled no problems. It always amazes me how they dont get nicked in the post tho, as they have companys name all over the envelopes.

Best thing to do is just give it a go and see, it certainly sounds a good deal!

I guess you can judge them on how fast they send you the next copy thru thus getting the best value out of them!

Tell her to go to Tescos dvd rental. 13.99 per month - unlimited amounts per month and they send three at a time.

We did it for a while and then got to the stage where we had far too many films to watch so have stopped for a bit but I'm sure we'll start up again soon...

They have a massive choice of old and new films and a wish list thing that you can prioritise what you want next...:)

I'll pass the on Charlotte - thanks. She's actually signed up for the Amazon thing but the DVD search engine is rubbish. You can search by genre but if you click on "New releases" then 90% of what you get is "C-list celebrity tai-bo pilates urban tummython techno dance workout". Dissappointing. We were on it for half an our and only managed to add 4 new releases to her wish list.

Amazon used to be good, I was subscribed since it started.

But lately they became complacent and lazy. They went out of their way to send crap from the bottom of the list, and they don't even have anymore the monopoly on 'hard-to-get' films.

Tesco and ScreenSelect are much better value.

I use to use Blockbusters version of this, again get 3 films at time, was a bugger though when they sent me season 2 of CSI in the wrong order lol

I stoped it in the end though because I used to find it hard to pick enough films to watch that i hadnt already seen and there is never that many new ones comming out. Plus we got SKY so football all the way now lol
