Wolf
Try MAL Plates on 01933 273274 or http://www.malplates.co.uk - talk to Donna Ibbott - she's a mate and knows her stuff.. Or seriously just leave off the front plate like me, passed it's MOT last month with no plate on and I've never been stopped (since it fell off this morning.... )

Wolf
At the front don't leave a recess - then you can leave it off but if you need to, add a sticker plate at a later date..

Mark Ayling
A bit late on this one, but in case its any use to you I've just been out and measured my plate... The plate is 27cm x 6cm, and the numbers are 5cm tall. HTH
Supragal
So, smaller than the site recommends but only by 1.4 cm so pretty close. Nice. Ok so before Dude posted a number- was that a trader off here or just someone you use mate?
Supragal
Well, I just rang the DVLA and have been assured that JAP import cars can have the small plates (as per link) LEGALLY as long as the bodywork can't house UK plates- ROCK ON!!! I said what about the Police and she said to carry a copy of the website info and that if there was a problem to get them to ring the DVLA to confirm- apparently this legislation was brought in on the 31st July 2001. Thats good news for me - hope it's good news for others
dude
supragal that number was for a trader , my plate has the legal letters but the spacing is wrong , ive argued before that i havent got a front plate as that is not a n.plate because it is not the right size for a n.plate (when threatened with big fine for illegal plate on my bike ) John
Supragal
Cheers Dude. It'll be fine, I can blag anything (Hmm, well, kind of....)
Darren
I'm running a 98 model with a front plate that fits the japanese holder pulled twice never had a word said about it. Just dont take the p@ss with the lettering size!!! Darren
mrboost
Well I got done fron the front number plate on the supra the same size as the apperture, I had the stuff from DVLA and the stuff from my mate at the mot station. He also said this to me" They are no way legal, you will have to buy two UK bumers then" WTF!!! I have not replaced the plates as the car is off the road AGAIN! But the same copper two weeks later did me again in the ST24. He did me for the letters being 2.7" high and not 3"...He did not measure it just new, also the ST24 logo on side of plate as GB are the only ones legal. No fine, just a Vehicle defect form... Took it to my mate who stamped it all done.....till next time. The copper just laughed when I showed him my DVLA Stuff. If you check http://www.southyorkpolice.co.uk and check number plates out. Supragal
Well if it's during working hours I'll personally ring the dvla and have them explain it to them!! If your car can't take UK sized plates, what did he expect you to do???
