What Type Of Dragging At Bovingdon??

Well as a fair few of you know, last years Borvingdon was a bit of a disaster when it came to the timing gear. The are 2 potentail companies who can do the timing set up for this years event, but i just wanna see what you guys would preffer. It's either a same set up like last year where we have the 1 car being done at a time, which in turn could mean we can do the 4/5 car drag at the same time. Or do we go with proper Santa Pod style head to head racing where both cars are timed instead of just the one?? The second option will probably mean not as much 4/5 car dragging.

Any thoughts or ideas?? i guess we could possibly hire the other part of the strip as well for people to do the 4/5 car dragging in.

Last year's event was great. Is there a strip there with less loose stones though? I guess it would have been alright one car at a time, but with four cars going down at once stones were flying everywhere :(

The strip on the other side of the fence [if that makes sense is a much better surface]. The plan is to have that side of the airstrip for this year. :D

I would say, the 2 cars at the same time. We need to get it well organised for timing. Seemed like a bit of a bum fight last time + it would have taken too long for everyone to go through.

I recon, fun drags to start. e.g. first 2 hours. Then times, prob the 2 cars running at the same time in order to get people through quickly. Then back to dragging until people get fed up or blow there cars up :D Hopefully not too much of the latter....and please not me!

I have to admit that it took so long to get each car moving to be timed was my fault as i hadn't got enough practise in with the equipment and so found the turn around a pain in the arse :D

I think you need to go with the plan which, keeps most people moving, hanging around too much and folks won't be happy.

Maybe a split ? Timed runs in the morning for those who really want a time and to get through as many people as possible and then 4/5 car drags in the afternoon for the fun element ?

as an aside - if cars will be doing 100+ mph, do we as a club need to think about safety ?

If we have 4/5 cars across and there is a problem at WOT with one of the cars in the middle - blow out etc.... they could take other cars out with them :(

Don't get me wrong, I had great fun at Bovingdon beating a Yellow car all the time ;) but, if we have more room this year, then it's moving to the next level ? No ?

(I know we all sign the disclaimer [like pod] but, as a club should we do something ?)

I think that a mixture would be great. Timed in the morning, then when people get bored of that and move on, whoever's left can do pretty much what they want. Hopefully that should curtail some of the quite dangerous antics that happened in the am last time.

I like the timed early. That way people who are bothered to get timed can get there earlier, and those who wanna just come down for a thrash can pop down a little later.

What i'd ideally like to do is get everyone to park down near the fence this time. Then the otherside where the stalls are can be the timed area and those who want to mass race can use the part from last year.
