Ian C
It's always been said that people judge other people by their posts, as there is no other yardstick available to judge them by. If things are spelt correctly, all is good. The occasional typo, who cares? A complete mess of lower case with no punctuation, large amounts of lazy spelling mistakes of simple words and lord help us, txt spk, well - you are going to be thought of as some sort of imbecile. Either that or you simply cannot be bothered to type a sentence out properly - if you are asking for assistance or advice or information and you can't be arsed to type the question, why expect someone to be arsed to answer it? Or even bother deciphering it? All this was summed up far more succintly by our ambassador Jake, with the line "type like a retard and I'll treat you like a retard". -Ian PS people with dyslexia are of course exempt from multiple typos, but that's no excuse for txt spk or lack of reasonable punctuation And we want a medical certificate proving it too

Guest chiefvinso
What is so bad about txt speak, labelling people by the way the write is just poor. Maybe txt speak is not for the older generation and I dont see much of it used on here. I dont assume that someone writing in short is a retard or lacks communication skills. But this is a forum on the internet and therefore unless you go to a meet and physically see someone the only way you know them is through what they write. Txt speak is for txting and even then it annoys the piss out of me. Speak properly!!! btw i don't have a problem with people making spelling mistakes...just try not to ay?! Pete
What is so bad about txt speak. Other than it being unreadable? Nonsense words that aren't English? Lazy? It was used before decent text prediction to reduce time spent typing on mobile phone keypads. You have a keyboard with 104/105 keys on, what's the excuse now? (Unless you're reading this via GPRS maybe )

(Unless you're reading this via GPRS maybe ) I agree, but also dont see a problem with text talk - maybe cos I'm used to it? I can understand if people dont know the cut down version and I dont use txt talk on the forum (only on the cell phone). What about acronyms like LOL PMSL LMAO, are these acceptable? If so, why? Because people know what they mean which then leads to me to there are people who also know what txt u l8r (example) means. Basically it does not bother me if someone has cut down a post. PS I counted 105 keys on my keyboard but wont use quite a few of those to post!!
