Chiefgroover
This is just a suggestion - so dont flame it! As this is the biggest Supra club in the UK, as a sevice to try and help members who wrestle with insurance companys for a decent payout, how about a value guide section?. e.g. a table covering mileage, condition etc. There is no realistic source of supra values in print. So this could be a starting point. I think it could only be based on a stock car, mods would make this very tricky to value. The values would be the realistic price that one would need from an insurance company to replace a car without dipping their hand in their pocket, which is what by law an insurance company is oblidged to pay, but rarely do. this example is for demo only, i dont suggest these to be correct values. 96 uk tt manual. cond ..... A1 good average 20K £16995 £15500 £12500 30K £15995 £14500 £11500 40K £14995 £13500 £10500 50K £13995 £12500 £9500 60K £12995 £11500 £8500 70K £12500 £11000 £8000 80K £12000 £11000 £7500 90k £11500 £10500 £7000 one table for each year / transmission / model. so what do you guys think, could this be a help to members? Ian W
would constantly have to be updated and there's no saying that the insurers would take a blind bit of notice of it anyway!
Chiefgroover
When you take your insurance company to court because they wont cough up a decent price, the judge would take into consideration the opinion of the club with a large membership and more knowledge of values than an assessor who sees 2 a year, probably very different ones at that. Updating it every 3 months would be adequate as Supra values dont move that quick.
Pete
Problem is with mods etc that the majority do this price will change quite radically - either way! It really can only be done on an individual basis.
Chiefgroover
read it again Pete "Based on stock car figures". I wouldnt suggest for a moment it was tried with modded cars
geoffvalenti
It would be interesting to see just how many members have got a completely stock car. Most people seem to do some mods, no matter how small. That aside, I'd have thought that with the number of members on the forum who are "in the trade" an individual valuation service through the club (for a fee, obviously) could be viable. Lots of other car clubs provide this service, mainly to insurance companies for agreed value policies. The problem is that the insurance companies have to be in agreement with the valuation "before" the loss or damage to the car. The clubs official insurer, SKY, seem to be OK with this so maybe othere could follow suit.
