Geezabloke
Have recently fitted new dials as some may have read / seen. A tip for recalibrating the speedo.......Use a Road Angel. Buy Borrow Beg or Steal..........these are great devices in their own right, but they also give an accurate MPH readout from GPS. Made it a doddle.....Its now more accurate than before.....:flame Dev Just a tip...................
SkyJawa
How did you go about adjusting it mate? (Got a road angel and speedo is 95-100mph when road angel shows 85 on level ground!!!!)
Steve W
I think Geeza's talking about replacing the needle ? ? but, for 'linear' calibration (ie. the 'scale') you need to calibrate it 'electronically'... on a Jap' with Pete Betts 'BOX' you can adjust the output 'scale' but on a UK - that doesn't need/have a 'box' - ............? ? ? ? errrrrrr, that is, if it's +5mph all the way up, you move the needle. if it's +5 at 50, and +10 at 100, and +15 at 150, you can't calibrate it with the needle.......need to alter the 'signal'...... or, change wheel/tyre size........ ! ! ! ! THOR Racing
but on a UK - that doesn't need/have a 'box' - ............? ? ? ? You can still use my box to do this. It has both 5:8 and 1:1 output signals so you can use the 1:1 and also the +/- 10% scaling (in 1.5% steps) to adjust. But only if this is NOT the natural non-linearity with the dial. Steve W
....to compensate for the Speed Sensor output being non-'linear' ? (...or.... Speedo reciever ? ? ? ) [ps. I still haven't actually USED it yet ! = lazy bug' ]
Geezabloke
Sorry I actually meant recalibrating following a dial change... Leave the plastic cover off and remove refit needle to match the Road Angel speed...Takes a while but now spot on..... Once done refit plastic cover...... If you need more info PM me and i'll go through it step by step? Cheers Dave
Need4Speed
So the Road Angel is that accurate? In a straight line of course. Mine reads about 3-5% down on the Road Angel speed.
Geezabloke
From discussions ive had the Road Angel is that accurate.. It is a couple of seconds behind, however if your running at continuos speed the unit should be spot on! :flame Dev
