imi
Like the comment from the police officer saying that the greatest hazard is that other drivers are not tuned into that kinda speed, they are simply not expecting it. well perhaps they should be driving faster than 70mph then...... how_supra
I got pulled over by the police for doing 40mph in a 40mph zone. Apparently it looked like I was going faster than I was.
Ian C
I like the bit where hey say it proves speed cameras pick up on inappropriate driver behaviour. Right, so, it went off because he was on the phone, yeah? It's go off if he was texting at 25mph, right? I don't think so. -Ian

raymanuk
Still a stupid thing to be doing while driving at that speed. Andy Jones, communications officer for the Fife Safety Camera Partnership, added: "This case is a prime example of safety cameras detecting inappropriate driver behaviour. What a plug The bloke was caught doing 156mph - unlucky and double unlucky he was pictured on the phone. If the bloke can afford a BMW he should be able to afford a hands free kit or a bluetoth headset. I thought that was standard with the majority of BMW owners. Jake
He should have claimed that he was familiarising himself with his phone.
Scoboblio
Andy Jones, communications officer for the Fife Safety Camera Partnership, added: "This case is a prime example of safety cameras detecting inappropriate driver behaviour." Yes yes Mr Jones, but a police officer would have been able to stop this dangerous behaviour not just punish it, thus leaving this devil of a person free to run over dozens of innocent school kids
Scoboblio
Very pedantic point here, but I thought that BMW's were mostly limited to 155mph?

Class One
Very pedantic point here, but I thought that BMW's were mostly limited to 155mph? No the M3 CSL was alble to be delimited by the factory if you held a racing licence. So if the factory could de limit it then some bright spark with a pc could as well i guess. Lewis
He was an AM Racing driver so probably had a race licence
Pete
My friend had 180 out of a CSL (indicated on the speedo), me in the Supra - stayed up ok up to 160 then I chickened out... on a track of course. It would've given more he reckoned. So no - not limited.
chris burford
Would this none money making camera picked him up if hed been a Spotty shi*head of a chav in wreck of a unroadworthy nova, uninsured,no mot,no tax 3 times over the limit, stoned out of his face lane hopping doing 65 mph, exactly 1 example does not justify cameras on motorways, the only real solution is highway patrol officers with common sense. I no its probably been said a thousand times before but a soop doing a 100 on the M1 at 3 in the morning is that such a bad thing i doubt it. Rant over. jamesmark
getting in touch with the police, when i was still in scotland there was apolice officer that was doing 151 mph and NOT responding to an emergancy he was caught after a random check on the tapes in the cars his excuse.................. it was a new vehicle and i was familiarising myself with the car. you know what he got? he got off with it and the judge let him off cause he was trained to that sort of speed. now i am sorry but as when we get pulled over we get a telling off about the "what if" factor even if your micheal schumacher if something happens on the public roads and you come towards it at 151 mph no matter how good your trained your still f**ked police are full of sh*t most of the time anyway there are a few good ones out there not all of them are bad as when i was caught doing 96mph in my vrs all they wanted was to chat about top gear and how good a car it was still got 6 points and £325 fine
Pete
That happened on the M54 here about 6 months ago. Exact same circumstance.
jamesmark
become a copper and you can break the law till your hearts content (to a certain degree) there is a good saying where am from you might know it "you have to bent to be a copper" and before i get corrected, if a copper pulls over lets say his father or best friend in the world doing double in a 30 then to right he will only get a warning = bent

It's also a lot safer than a clapped out old Citroen or something doing 60. I hate driving the Renault on motorways, it feels so dangerous, even at 55 (which is also pissing everyone else off!!). Not really comparable.
