Mid_lifecry_sis
my coil packs are giving up, want to buy three new, so £278 anyone changed jap to uk for improvemnt - do they fit? any other thoughts? cheers
Steve Cargill
UK and J spec are the same part number. 90919-02205 until 1997, then after Sept 97 it changed to 90919-02216. This is not a substitute part, it's different. How do you know they are giving up, what are the symptoms? Quick edit - you actually need 6 of them, the brackets that hold the pairs together are another part.
Alex
Try J-marks in the US for the parts - might get them cheaper.
Steve W
Just out of curiosity, why do you think all SIX of your packs are duff ? ? ? Unless there's something causing 'em to fail....... ? It'd be a bit of a coincidence for 2/3/4 to fail at once ? What's the 'symptoms' ? ? FatS.
THOR Racing
Maybe the question should be would a higher secondary spark voltage be better and has anyone exchanged the stock coil packs for bigger ones? i.e. bigger and more powerful spark and thus more complete burn of mixture. Well actually this means you can jump a larger spark plug gap which is always better. Regards Pete

Steve W
Isn't there a disadvantage to increasing the Sec' Volt' ? ? ...or not ? What goes 'down' as V goes 'up' ? Current/Amps ? ? Why wouldn't Toy' have done it anyway (or is it just if you ~BPU?) .............BUT, as I said, what's the problem anyway Mid' ? ? ? ?
THOR Racing
Why wouldn't Toy' have done it anyway They didn't need anything better? (or is it just if you ~BPU?) Probably. what's the problem anyway Mid' ? Yes. It's still a mystery. Some things I do know..... 1: Low cylinder pressure requires less secondary voltage to jump the plug gap hence high cylinder pressure (increased boost) requires higher secondary voltage. 2: Richer mixtures require less secondary voltage to jump the plug gap and hence leaner mixtures (what we end up with at the limit) requires a higher secondary voltage. Steve W
I think Mid' just posted...... and ran away... the swine ! ! ! .......perhaps that's why we 'all' have to close the gap on BPU-ing ? ? are we compensating for a 'SMALL ONE' ? ? ? (mine 'missed' at full boost if the gap was 1.1, but OK at 0.8)
Mid_lifecry_sis
Hey people - yes steve - just up'a deed and ran! No hey spoken to PaulE on Sunday and the issue I have cannot relate to packs - however another question then. I run HKS air and Hyper - 1st cat in and have been runnung 1.2, PaulE is amazed at how that can be - good old apexi machanical. Never the less - since a wee spin, the guage has ran at 1 bar - .2 missing? Ran up with Geeza on Sunday evening and a quick motorway blast x 2 showed when I was 1 bar he was run 1. 1.24 and 2nd run: 1.21 bar - is my gauge out - can I assume? This was done rolling from 80/90 to 130 ish maybe more, but he wasnt pulling away once at a high speed? Cheers all, Thor, Steve, Term...
