Sandy-m2
Hi all i'm new here and could do with some advice. I'm looking to buy a 1998 facelift and the previous owner tells me of one issue. I'm told that "Somewhere behind the dashboard is a motor that starts up with the ignition. It isn't the heater fan, so I'm not sure quite what it is. On freezing cold mornings (and I mean below zero), sometimes this motor, or whatever it is turning, sticks and the motor labours. If you turn off, leave a few moments and start again, everything is fine, so I presume something needs lubrication. It is, like all the best niggles, intermittent so the garage has never found anything." If anyone can shed any light on this it would be much apreciated Cheers Sandy
letmeshowyou
only thing i can think of is the motor for the heater fan (at least thats what I assumed it was) - had a problem with sticky controls on mine when I first got it!

weinelm
It could be one of the climate control servos. Mine make a quiet creak for a couple of seconds sometimes, but everything seems to work still. Check if all the climate controls function ok: Hot/Cold, Outside-Air/Re-circulate etc. I doubt the servos are easy to get at though if they do need replacing, but if everything works I wouldn't worry.
