FCD = VFCC, right ?

I've just picked my car up from the exhaust place after having the front decat pipe fitted. The second cat was already gone by the way. Perhaps not surprisingly the car now cuts out at highish boost (say 1.25 to 1.3) and the engine warning light comes on briefly. So I need a FCD do I? Is that the same thing as the VFCC I see on the TRL Performance web site?

this one

Please correct me if I'm misunderstanding this but a VFCC will just remove the cutting out until it gets to the new boost level I set the vfcc to, right?

So even with a VFCC I would still need some method of stopping the boost going over 1.2bar, a "Boost Controller" or a Restrictor Ring, correct?

Where can I get cooler plugs from? Presumably it's not the kinda thing they do in Halfords.

Finally, should I invest in a EGT Gauge? Any other way to reliably tell if the engine is running too hot or lean due to the decat?

Thanks guys

Yes.

The VFCC (Volage Fuel Cut Controller) or FCD ( Fuel Cut Defencer) will only prevent damage to the engine by stopping overboost via the fuel cut method. To avoid even hitting this new OVERBOOST theshold you'll need some other method like boost controller or restrictor to do this.

Fit a restrictor if you hit 18psi without any mods to the turbo control.

Pete
