RedM
I was getting some hassle from an idiot in a Jag tonight (annoyed that I had the audacity to arrive at some lights as they turned green and so got a better getaway) and approached a 30 camera section at about 40. I was somewhat distracted because the road narrows from the left and Jag man was undertaking me! I was worried that he'd come across and either drive into me or I'd swerve into the central reservation. I stamped on the brakes and got down below 30 after about a cars length into the camera grid. Didn't see any flashes so have I gotten away with it? God knows how Jag man didn't set it off though. He went through pretty quickly. If you dramatically reduce your speed, can you avoid getting caught even if you've entered the cameras field of vision?

SimonB
No flashes = no problem. The reason there are two flashes is it takes 2 pictures a fixed time apart. Then they can prove the cars speed by seeing how many lines on the grid the car has moved between pictures. So if you slowed down enough before the 2nd flash you could avoid it. I think they only bother looking at the picture if you challenge it though, otherwise they use the speed the radar came up with, which would be at the time of the first photo. RedM
I've not been flashed before (oo-er missus) so I'm guessing it is pretty noticeable? I'd know if I had been flashed, wouldn't I? Even if not looking in the rear view etc.

Pete
Don't worry about it. I read tonight in the Telford Journal that Telford has the highest prosecution rate on speed cameras at 100% !! Some parts of the country are as low as 40% apparently... yes, that's only 40% of actual photos are used to prosecute. (According to our local free rag at any rate)

You're fine mate, if he was travelling a lot quicker than 30 there is a chance that it was a dummy camera anyway, they do exist

Supralookin
I was going down a road I travel down most days when the car to my left was around 3 feet in front of me. I was dead on 30 (so the speedo said) and he got flashed goin threw. What could he have been doing 33-35 maybe? Ridiculous these cameras.
Jake
My sister got 3 points for doing 33mph in a 30 limit. WTF is that about? I didn't think they would nick somebody for such a minor offense.
