Andrew
Just phoned up Toyota to see the price on the 2nd Cat and they tell me that J-spec Cats are different to the UK-spec. They couldn't quote a price for the J-spec so I ask for UK-Spec, they then tell me there are 4 different kinds of 2nd Cat??? Is it me, or are Toyota being typically dim on the subject? Prices ranged from £196 - £450 btw. Also if anyone has any info on high flow cats it would be most appreciated. This needs to be something to get me through an MOT next year, I have a 2nd Cat but someone looney has cut the end off. Thanks Andrew

Digsy
For a JDM RZ 6 speed I get the following part number for the 2nd cat assembly: 17410-46160 (May 1993 onwards) The SZ and the SZ-R both use 17410-46190 (May 1993 onwards) The UK EPC calls up 17410-46180 for TT (May 1993 to January 1996) and 17410-46220 for NA (May 1993 to May 1996). So there are indeed four different cat pipes, but looks like only one for the RZ.
Steve W
The thing is, as 'we've' said before, the Aftermarket cat' pipes and zorsts only come in TWO variaties (sp?)... Jap' cat replacement, or, UK cat' replacement. The cat-back is identical. I'm pretty certain the only difference in the cat pipes is one's got the 2nd Lambda sensor in the cat, the other hasn't. ? ? ? What else is different in the 'types' of cat ? ? ? If it's just slight variations in cat' material etc. then it won't make a hoots difference to the MOT test (any cat' should still do 'enough' of a job ?) (earlier cats are normally ceramic/fragile/cheap? later ones ought to be Platinum/Titanium sponge/mesh and probably dearer ??) If it was 'shape' or mounting, then there would need to be the same number of different cat' REPLACEMENT pipes ? wouldn't there ? I know that TDi have a HUGE pile of cat's outside their works, 'cos they've done so many pipes..... perhaps they can confirm the 'different' types and if it matters ? ? FatS. (is there a different 'volume' one for an N/A perhaps ?) besides, Andrew, there's a LOT of dissused cats out there ! they're gonna 'go' for a lot less than a new one ! ! ? ? I would think TDi just throw 'em away ! ! We've tried selling old cat's for the 'Precious' metal but no-one's interested ! !
