S7EVE
Having owned an S2000, the push button start is a complete novelty. You still have to put the keys in the ignition and then press the start button, its a gimmick Im with Chris H - Get Intellistart - my mate had this, a nice touch! carl0s
On xmas eve I was at a Shell petrol station in Blackpool - just off the J4 turnoff on the man road. The front of the shop was caved in because.. apparently a chap in the shop was playing with his remote-start, and had left the handbrake off, and the car in gear, and the car drove through the shop, sending an old lady flying to the other side of the shop. Apparently it was going some too - wheels spinning crazy!

Also, how the hell did it start? Surely it would have jerked and jumped a bit forward but not fully started?

Surely it would have jerked and jumped a bit forward but not fully started? mine wont start if it is in gear, or if the handbrake is off. but mine sets by setting the turbo timer to run before you get out, so i kinda generally know its safe to start, since it must have run for a minute before it shutdown anyway! there are some cheap remote starts out there though. I said to the shop lady that his insurance probably wouldn't pay out, and that the fitters may be liable for fitting it incorrectly!

Yep, incorrectly fitted may account for it.

The new Toyota Yaris has a start button which looks like if will suit the rest of the dash better than that red thing - looks similar to the heater buttons, with a green led in it. Matt Harwood
Yep, incorrectly fitted may account for it. There's a wire that should ONLY be connected up for the Intellistart to recognise auto transmission... If it's connected on a manual, it will allow the car try to start in gear. It's also totally against Cliffords installation guidelines, (big bold capital letters), and probably upset an insurance company or two as well
