osso
Hi guys, Im not sure if this is in the right thread, but i will be after a Clifford Concept 600 soon as i have a 1998 Supra RZ which is on its way from Japan. I am currently based in the South East, in East Sussex, and i was wondering if anyone could recommend a good approved clifford dealer who is able to install the system. I believe SEXTONS is an approved dealer and they are around 45 minutes away, has anyone had their clifford system installed by them? Cheers, James
Wez
Why a clifford alarm? From previous experience I would never have a clifford again, to clever for there own good. :flame Dev
osso
I thought it was the best cat1 alarm on the market, from what i've heard. i've also heard alot of people have had problems with clifford but alot of problems are down to the installer's who's done a crap job and cut corners. JohnK
Its all down to the fitting on cliffords, Ive had 3 now on seperate cars, only one that every went wrong was the one that was fitted by cowboys (long story needed alarm before my insurance was canceled and this was only place could do it in the time) Matt Harwood is the man to talk to, he is not to far from you and did an excelent job on my supe for a great price, highly recomended. I think he is on holiday this week though.
Soonto_HAS_soop
Yeah, Matt is currently being nice to the Spanish:cool: ! He did mine for a good price, just remember to get the intelli start fitted. It is good in winter, and also it confuses the feck out of people!! Ben.. osso
So who is Matt Harwood? who does he work for? As much as i like the toys on the intelli start system, i believe it invalidates the thatchams approved certification, so do turbo timers and blackjax isnt this the case?
Soonto_HAS_soop
Matt works for Sextons in Maidstone. The intellistart and turbo timers do invalidate the Thatcham category 1, but only for the period that they are running for. The alarm is doing the same job as it would if they weren't working. As long as you don't operate them stupidly then you have no problem. Ben..
JohnK
Matt runs a branch of sextons. As for the thatcham aproval any alarm is only aproved as tested, so technially if you change any setting to how they tested it, like changing to quiet arm/disarm chirps it would be invalid. I wouldnt let it bother you and get intelistart, it is a grat laugh in a busy carpark
Soonto_HAS_soop
it is a grat laugh in a busy carpark You use it for the exact same reason as me then!! Ben..

osso
So what you're saying is, providing that the intellistart or turbo timer isnt operating, then the system is still thatchams approved, but if intellistart or the turbo timer was running, then the certification would become void during the short period while is was running? Hmmm just try and explain that to the insurance companies lol. its madness!
foodfreak
Hi, I had my 600 fitted by Matt & his lads last month, Was extremely impressed with both the install and knowledge these guys have:cool: John
JohnK
just try and explain that to the insurance companies lol. its madness Dont bother. All they are interested in is the install certificate. Also Blackjax is part of the c600 base system, its switchable and with it on (just switched on) the whole thing isnt approved. Who's going to know!!!!!!!! Just get it installed with the options you want. send the cert off to insurance company, everyone is happy.
MONKEYmark
i am on my 3rd clifford first one i had, was a avant guard on my uk mk3 supra turbo. never had so much trouble. was in and out of workshop all time giving false alarms. they got me a hire car while they tried to sort it out. they had to get one of the top clifford blokes onto it in the end. second one i had in a mitsubishi gto tt, clifford 600 it was ok but still gave the odd problems, had car 10 months then got shut third one, was on the supra i have now. concept 600 + extras had it installed 3 years now. not had any problems apart from a broken bonnet switch. the bloke who fitted it was well clued up and did a great job. have just been back for him to check it over, did not know you have to get yearly check ups. its for insurance purpose to make sure its working right and is good for peace of mind. only cost £29 i got mine done in leeds at maximum inpact. got a spare button on remote so going to get remote boot open fitted for £89.95 i dont think i would like anything else but clifford
400BHP
I have had a 600 fitted to my car recently, works a treat, pukka install and even got intellistart and cliffnet wizard! Hooked up turbo timer and headlights, just got to get the time to sort a solenoid to pop the boot and i'm laughing! No false alarms, nicely sensitive prox sensor stops pesky kids fucking around near my baby. Matt is definately the top man for the job, I must say many thanks to him for all his help and giving my neighbours a preview of what my exhaust is gonna sound like when its fitted... SupraSapphire
This remote start thing sounds like fun. Is it available on any other alarm systems. I've currently got a Toad alarm. If not what sort of price are we talking for one including the install?
MONKEYmark
can be fun when you go to a cruise and people stood next to your car, some cheeky bint was resting her ass on my wing so did a remote star and she jumped out of her skin. i use mine as a sort of turbo timer to let car cool down. or put it on in a morning to warm it up. got the pc conection kit but never conected it up to pc yet. bloke who was checking out my alarm tested it out. and set me some different alarm tones as 1 tone gets a bit boring. he was saying that the 600 they have got it right so have stuck to the same box. but was saying they bringing a slightly newer version with updated software in the 600. you want to go to a good installer though and matt h gets some good reveiws. osso
Does anyone happen to have Matt's contact details? I'd like to make some inquires regarding the Clifford Concept 600 and perhaps the intellistart.. I've no idea when my supra will be in the UK, but its been out at sea now for the last 2 weeks, heading to the UK! I think it will be another 4 weeks before it docks in the UK. osso
Cheers Matt, I will be in touch in the next couple of days.. I have been informed that my Supra should arrive Southampton around 18th Sept - give or take a few days. then Transported to Canterbury where it will stay while it under goes conversion, SVA, MOT tests and registered. I believe Canterbury is around 20 miles from Maidstone. So i guess you would be ideal for installing the Clifford alarm, and its reasuring to know you own a Supra as well!
