RedM
I'm ordering a router for our upcoming move to broadband and I read that I need an ethernet/network card to connect it to my PC. I have a Marvell Yukon 88e8053 pci-e gigabit ethernet controller installed but not enabled (according to XP). Is this the part I need and if so, what am I looking for around the back when I come to plug it in?

Hya mate,. you are looking for what looks like a large telephone connector type socket,. on some ethernet cards they have a light flashing round the back showing activity,. but basicaly it looks like a larger phone socket. If you have a pci-e gigabit ethernet controller installed then you should be in bussiness the ethernet card itself looks like a soundcard or 56k modem, conecting your cable modem in this manner is superior to using USB

chilli
yep they are RJ45 connectors (like a large telephone connector - which are RJ11). Looks like you do have two!
RedM
Yay me.... Hey Chilli, I've been down in West Sussex for four day. Didn't see a single Supra in all that time! Drove around Worthing and Brighton. Saw nothing but speed cameras and unnecessary traffic lights. Did absolutely blat it down my fave straight bit of road though. RedM
You have 2, one 100Mbps and one 1 Gbps What does that mean and which one do I use?
chilli
just different speeds, use whatever matches the other equipement you have (although it will most like auto-sense the speed anyway so you don't need to worry, just plug in and go). I'd prolly go for the 100mbs-1 connection though to start with, more likely to actually work! Good stretch of road that, been down there at a fair rate before myself
