Phil Offord
I am finally at a point where i am going to fit the probe for my EGT gauge. Exhaust and turbo's are comming of as i believe i have a blowing manifild gasket, so it is a good time to get the drill out and fit the probe. Can someone confirm exactly where it has to be fitted? I think from memory it has to be before the turbos in the manifold....if so is there a prime spot for it? Any assistance greatly appreciated, as i only want to do this once! Lee Burley
Best place IMHO is into the manifold, tight up to the cylinder head, on the front cylinder (is that No1 or No6? I can never remember). Thats where ChrisW fits them.
Adam W
I think someone said that number 6 was the best place, but number one is used because it's easier to get at with everything in situ.
Lee Burley
That rings a bell Adam... I think No6 (the back one) runs slightly hotter, so I guess if you have the manifold off then it would be better to plumb it in there, and you get a shorter cable run which is a bonus! Ian C
It takes about 2 hours to remove the intake system down to the turbos, and you don't need to replace any gaskets to do so. This gives you full access to any cylinder's exhaust port, so you can jam it anywhere you like. -Ian
