oh fcuk!head gasket gone!!!

hi chaps the haed gasket shit out on my supe,any 1 ever changed 1?is it a diy job or stomach the cost & keep me hands clean?whats the standard thickness?i got a mate with a small garage he saying its a 15-20 hour job does this sound right?should i just say fcuk the expense & go 4 hybrids while its in bits?& if i do the turbos sholud i get a thicker gasket so i can run more boost?i think im gona be living @ work 4 a while to pay 4 this.

I changed the head on my single turbo'd Supra the other week, easy job if you ask me, might be a little trickier with the std turbos in place though but then you should be able to lift the head off with the turbo's/manifold still in place. Mine took around 5 hours total time to do approx.

I'd personally fit a std head gasket on, thats what I use, I'm running 1.9 bar on very odd occasion, 1.5 most of the time and no problems at all with it.

As I recall the book time is about 11 hours. That excludes any other head work etc.

 

(p.s. it's now getting a bit common, this MKIV BHG club, you are no 3 that I know of!!)

 

Hybrids also need the fueling sorting out, unless you keep the boost right down. They also cost just under 2 grand for a pair....
