Jive
Before anyone jumps up and down [Martin F ] yes I have done a search but not found the answer to my question. So I ordered from Mr Whiffin the following : EBC Black Front pads EBC Black Rear pads Have been informed today that EBC don't have any black front pads anywhere in the country and so have sent me some green front pads at no extra cost. Just also had a conversation with JohnK and did a quick search but didn't get the right answer.......anyway, it seems the green pads aren't really that good but will they be ok on the fronts and the blacks on the rears? I've got a J-Spec brake discs if that's any help, oh and it's an NA so I wont have to haul the car from 200 leptons down to zero like some of you guys Anyone with any thoughts......good or bad
Steve Cargill
I had Green Stuff pads on the front and I found them pretty good once warm. When cold they had no bite at all, it took 2 or 3 hard stops to get them warmed up properly. Then they were good, but would go back off after a few minutes. Probably pretty good for spitited driving etc, but horrible for normal use (commuting)
Adam W
I found them to be diabolical, they faded worse than toyota pads and felt worse under every driving condition. They produced huge amounts of dust and lasted about 3000 miles of moderate commuting, no track use at all. I will never recommend or buy an EBC product again! B1SEP
After selling a few sets of EBC pads and getting feedback from customers I (Torque IC) no longer sell these pads under any circumstances - we only sell Ferodo and Pagid now, although I recently sold some TRD pads and am awaiting feedback. Gaz Walker
Oh and Michel nearly crashed his car after 2 miles of fitting these to his UK supra. Had to slow on the gears from 100 leptons and then use the handbrake to avoid driving into someone on a roundabout on a fast dual carriageway after these had severely faded after one stop! Gaz. Steve Cargill
Reading all the posts after my comments I guess I should say I drive like a pussy most of the time so don't tend to have overheating / fade problems. My comments were on commuting driving.

No lead weight wanted yet Next month............. (edit - I've had full UK brakes for the last year)
Jive
Ok, thanks guys, seems, by census of opinion, that these are pretty rubbish. Steve, your comment about driving like a pussy made me but then I'm also the same as I dont really tend to throw the car around that much. I'll stick them on and go and give them a test on some quiet roads to see what they're like. I'm a bit apprehensive now and if they are really that bad then I think Mr Whiffin should be removing them from his stock. Cheers for you help again. Steve W
JIVE ! ! wether 'good' or 'bad' please let us know ? I like to know WELL in advance which pattern bits are good/bad/passable..... Same with the Plugs/Oils etc. FatS. [ps. I drive Pussy-Style too, I DON'T need 'Racing'-spec pads, but I DON'T want too much dust ! ! - BLACK SUPRA ! ! !]
Dragonball
The word crap hardly begins to describe my opinion of the red stuffs that I put on years ago Now its Ferrodo's for me This might make a reasonable poll - ? I just don't know the names of all the pads Chris Wilsons Porterfields Mintex Ferrodos EBC Black EBC Red ? Anyone
Steve Cargill
Paul, are we talking J spec brakes - The stock UK pads are pretty well rated AFAIK (OK OK I drive like a pussy, BUT...) Image was stock J spec old brakes after 4 or 5 120 to 50 MPH hard stops, the pedal started sinking so I thought I'd better pull over and then I noticed the smoke In the left picture you can just make out the blue colour of the disk!!! Steve W
The reason I got the UKs was the Jap front discs were slightly warped and I thought, if I just UPRATE the Jap Pads it would only INCREASE the rate of Warp-SPEED SO, went UK and standard pads - less heat-up of discs ? ? (BUT only really push them at Pod/TOTBpractice ! ) as I said before, I'd don't mind fiercer pads, but don't fancy any squeelin' or too much dust (lazy Bas' ! !) FatS. Jive
Originally posted by Steve W JIVE ! ! wether 'good' or 'bad' please let us know ? I like to know WELL in advance which pattern bits are Well unfortunately I wont be able to give you an opinion of these as EBC are and I quote Mr Whiffin here "utterly useless"! As I said EBC had none of the black fronts in the UK so were going to send the greens out to me at no extra cost. Supposed to go directly to me, instead they were sent to Paul who subsequently sent them back. So basically I've been waiting for the whole of last week, on leave as well, to do these and they never appeared. I've now cancelled the whole order with Paul and asked for my money back
Paul Whiffin
And I have now told my supplier where to go and removed all there products from my web site, completely useless service which makes me look bad in the process. Sorry for any problems this may have caused. Paul
