Call of Duty 2

When is this game going to get good?

I've just completed the British campaign in France (3/4 way through?) and so far I think it's very average. What's all the fuss about? It feels like I've seen it all before - snipe the mortar teams from the roof, shoot the planes, drive around in the cars and shoot at things, drive a tank, defend the house for 4 mins before you're relieved...

I've done all this before in Medal of Honour and CoD. The only thing I like is that you can do objectives in no set order and the paths through towns and things aren't too linear (you can outflank machine guns nests by going behind houses for example).

Other than that... hmmmm.

I played the demo of COD2 and was disappointed with it, another over-hyped game IMO (like HL2 and Doom3). I also think it is still too linear (maybe it was just the demo). COD was the bee's knee's in its time due to the special effects, but they havents really made much of a 'leap' in COD2 from the original.

Maybe FarCry spoiled me, as the only other good FPS recently was F.E.A.R :)

* Sorry for trailing off topic a little *
