Tricky-Ricky
Can anyone provide a definitive answer on what are the minimum and maximum sizes and offsets for 17" and 18" wheels on a jap spec TT.
merckx
I'm not sure if there's a definate answer to this. It depends on wheel design aswell. Also, some J spec supra's have the larger brakes which were standard on the UK car.
Tricky-Ricky
Surly its down to rim width and offset, i realize that spoke pattern and design will have an impact on brake calliper Clarence, but there must be a limit to what offset a certain rim width will cope with on a Supra before it either touches the shock body or wheel arch? Steve W
Well, i have 10 x 18 on the rears (Antera 309's), had the 'advised' tyres of 275/35/18 (Toyo T1-Rs) put on. ( = roughly std' gearing) They clear arches EASILY and i'll be looking to go ~285/35 or 285/40(IS there?) [the 275's don't really protect the rims enough on 10" width:scare: ] I had 17's (std Supra wheels) on my old TT with 285/40/17's and they JUST cleared the arches. BOTH cars NOT lowered though ! ! (245/40/18's on front LOOK like miles of clearance, but, lots more movement at the front under braking etc so hard to tell ?!?)
Tricky-Ricky
What was the offset on those rims?
Steve W
AHHH, sorry, not sure mate, only went for them cos already knew they clear UK brakes. [well, that, and the fact that they're not TOO dear and come in 8" and 10" widths] NEARLY went for the Lexus wheels (same sizes 8x18 10x18) and again not too dear but 'uvver-arf' thought they weren't 'blingy' enough ( still THEY know best) Not at all sure on widths/tyres for 19's but really think they're getting TOO low a profile then (bit too stiff for my liking..the 18's are much stiffer than the 17's as it IS !!) Ibrar should hopefully be able to advise on 'biggest' sizes that 'will' fit.... ...if he sees yer thread ! ! !
merckx
Surly its down to rim width and offset It is, but it depends on whether you want to keep to the stock sizes. Knowone could tell rim width and offsets and guarantee they'll fit. Depends on what brakes you've got aswell. Not all wheels fit over the larger brakes. The largest wheels fitted to the Supra as standard were: Front ... 17" x 8" .......... 235/45 - 17 Rear .... 17" x 9.5" ....... 255/40 - 17 Offset 50, I think.
