Andrew
After adding millers +2 to a full tank of Optimax, I have started to get popping/backfires in the exhaust pipe on occasional bursts of acceleration. Granted this sounds impressive, but is it a good thing? I take it, it is excess fuel igniting in the pipe, if this is the case am I running too lean? Should I have reset the ECU? Terminator
It is always a good idea to pull the FEI no 1 fuse for ten minutes when ever you change octane levels in the tank. However, with a full decat system, I still get the occasional pop and bang on over run, even with ECU reset. I use Millers and Optimax all the time. Alex
As long as its happening on the over run when you lift off the throttle there is nothing to worry about per say...mine started to do it after a de-cat. If it's doing it whilst accelerating you may have a problem
AJI
Mine did it once or twice in neutral with both cats on. Hit the accelerator to the floor then as you near the red line lift off completely. It used to backfire once or twice, thought that it wasn't too good for the engine so I haven't done it since. Quick question about de-cat: To de-cat the REAR am I right in thinking that it's just a simple straight through pipe that replaces the cat? Yes that is correct just four bolts. Chris Wilson makes a good one that will help keep boost down if you take out number one at a later date
