Thinking of getting a Supra

Evening all.

I currently own a nissan 200sx... and a i saw a thread on the sxoc about a young chap getting a non turbo supra and getting a reasonable insurance quote.

I am 22... (23 next june)... and I have owned my sx now for about 16 months... to which it has had a lot of work done, including an engine change for a Fast road engine...

I have always liked the supras... and I am sorely tempted to get rid of my 200sx and get a supra.

What would be the best route to go down?... I know I wont get backa lot of the money I have spent on the 200... but I think it is worth a fair bit anyway because of what it is running.

Thanks for any advice in advance.

Cheers

Martin

At your age you should be able to get a reasonable quote on a Supra, provided your no claims is good.

Having driven a couple of 200's I think the NA isn't much of a "step up" with day to day driving, though it is much more refined on A and M roads. The TT is a big difference though when you have a couple of hundred meters straight road ;)

Have a drive in as many Supras as possible before you make your choice (DO NOT dismiss the auto!), I'm sure there's a few forum members local to you that'll be willing to donate some time if you want some spirited driving experience ;) :D

I have 4 years no claims bonus... which i hoping will help me a lot.

I havnt had my car on a rolling road for a while... but my car has all the bits fitted and mapped (by APT) for a stage 2 setup... which with the turbo running at 17psi is supposed to be around about 310/ 320bhp (fingers crossed) :).

I just fancied a changed... :D

Hi mate, I owned a S14 for a year before I bought my supra 2 1/2 years ago, the differnece between the 2 cars is huge. I really enjoyed the rear drive handling of the 200, in fact my very first car was an S13 which was even more tail happy.

Anyway, I would advise getting a TT as you will get bored quickly with the na and it also isn't as easy or cheap to get more power out of them. By the way, I'll be advertising mine for sale in a week or so. :p

I always wanted the TT... was never really tempted at all by the N/A version.

I really do love my 200, but with it now sitting at a happy 300bhp... the cost of getting anymore out of it is just too much to bare... considering how easily I could sell mine up... and get a TT Supra for a little more.

I was going to put a post up on here about my 200... but im guessing i dont have enough posts to put it up on here... its on the sxoc for sale, but i was hoping there might be someone on here who might be wanting to do a part ex on mine :p

Hiya m8 i was 22 when i got my supra (23 now) 4years ncb £1600 on a jspec TT with elephant.co.uk, To get insured on a non turbo it was the same price, to get insured on a UK TT it was half the price :D

Good luck with ur serch

My renewal on my 200 was £930 all mods declared.... so im hoping that because i plan on buying a fairly unmolested Supra... that the price will be fairly static... well here's to hoping anyway :).

Here is a link to the thread of my car for sale on the sxoc:
