Chris Wilson
I was having this "discussion" in the pub, it got quite heated! 3 categories, road car, open wheel race car, closed wheel race, any age. Which are / were the prettiest ever, forget performance, success and provenance, just on drop dead gorgeous looks. Any views out there? geoffvalenti
Road car - TVR Griffith Open Wheel race - I'll pass on this one (not my specialist subject) Closed Wheel race - Plymouth Superbird/Dodge Daytona
AJI
Road Car - McLaren F1 Open wheel race car - 1992 Jordan Formula 1 Closed wheel race car - Porsche GT1 (from FIA GT) I've always liked the curvey aerodynamic shapes which came into play in the early 90's. It took F1 two years to create one of the most curvey looking F1 cars ever. McLaren realeased their F1 road car in the mid-90's which had all the right curves in the right places and also in the mid-late 90's Porsche had their great looking GT1 race car competing in the FIA GT championship. chilli
hmm tricky, depends on mood lol but for starters I'd go for: 1 - Ferarri F40, DB9, Ultima GTR 2 - 70's JPS Lotus F1 cars (Good choice Rob!) 3 - Toms Supra maybe? Porsche 917 just cause it's mental - ok not classically good looking though lol
Chiefgroover
IMO of course. My Supra got more local admiration than either mates red F360 or yellow GT3. Lottery win? I'd just do a custom Supra again but this time really go for it :-)

Chris Wilson
My own favourites are the Lancia Gamma Coupe http://newbury-house.com/lancia/lanciagamma.jpg and as a Sports racing car the Lola T92-10 Group C car http://newbury-house.com/lola/t92-10.jpg I have never made a decision on open wheel race cars, but I prefer older 50's and 60's stuff. I also loved (and owned) a Chevron B16 http://newbury-house.com/B16/b16.jpg Some beautiful cars posted by others, sadly beauty is often skin deep, the gamma Coupe i once owned must rate as the biggest mass prodution lemon ever made. I adored it's looks, I don't think it ever completed a journey of more than 200 miles under its own steam, pun intended.

Matt Harwood
Personally, I've always loved the older Mustangs... http://www.toproadster.com/images/1967FordMustangShelbyGT500.jpg http://www.shelbymustang.com/cars/new_inventory/1970_white_boss_302/exterior_01.JPG Chris, No disrespect meant, but is that Lancia any relation to one of the poorest Ferrari's ever made? The 400 gt? http://www.dennigcars.org/models/pictures/ferrari_400_gt_automatic.jpg
Chris Wilson
Matt: I think as Pininfarina designed both shapes the similarity is there, and both are of a similar era. i too like some of the late 60's, early 70's Americana. I always liked the Dodge Challenger Hemi, in Plum Crazy colour. (Not the Charger, as in Bullet, but the Vanishing point model). That famous Coke bottle sideline was great, even the English got on board, with the Vauxhall Ventora FD shape.
