retainer pin on brake pads.

I might have a go at the Budweg stuff for this one - I can get a front service kit (BCK4313) for 10.12, pistons come in at 11.08 (BCP4334) - for the rears it's 7.53 for the service kit (BCK4019) and 10.92 for the pistons (BCP4027) - all from http://www.brakeparts.co.uk - I might even be able to save a bit on that too as I have a discount with them.

Worth a risk for the price of a few beers or not worth it?

Pins will still be Toyota but I'm sure I can push the boat out on those if I don't feed the cats for a week to compensate for the huge loss ;)

If the pistons are so worn they need replacing, what does that say about the caliper body?

The main reason for changing pistons is for damage to the tops of the pistons, above the seal. Supra pistons are chromed and this can wear off where the top of the piston rubs against the back of the pad / anti squeal shim. If the dust boot is damaged, that will expose more of the piston to the elements.

Obvously if the bore is history the caliper needs to go in the bin, but changing pistons is fine by me.
