pump gas pete
This mature gentleman has purchased a n I-Pod. mmmmmmm Interesting piece of kit. However it does come without instructions. So far I have managed to "upload" most of the music I like. Leonard Cohen (not to played after you have been told that the parts you ordered in America with "immediate delivery" are on "Back order") Beach Boys ( 0ne day the sun will shine, I'll have a 10 at 145 mph on the board and the engine still in one piece) Bob Dylan (Who takes me back to the days before my future passed by) Anyway enough , already. My problem. I do not have all the music I like on CD. I do not subscribe to the idea that all the music by an artist is "good". I-Tunes ....great ....download the tunes I like....Bliss. Er not quite. It took 4 hours to down load 5 Cat Stevens tracks. I have 56k at work. Darren has broadband for his Supra "research" He has an I-Tunes account. Can I upload tunes fron his library into my I-Pod....take the I-Pod to work and download said tunes into my "work" library for sorting and shuffling? Long pre-amble but Darren assures me there are dozens of you clever people out there to whom computers et al hold NO fears! Thanks in advance Pump Gas Pete 769 rwhp on pump gas. chilli
I'm not quite sure I get what you are asking, if you or someone else has the mp3's then a copy of itunes and the cable means you can put any songs on any ipod, unless they are under DRM? pump gas pete
I want to know :Can the music I put on my I-Pod from Darrens house be taken off the I-pod at work and put into the I-Tunes library I have on that computer? This means I can download I-Tunes quickly at Darrens house and intergrate those "new" tunes with my existing songs held in the library on my work computer. Hope that makes it clearer Pump Gas Pete
qaisar
id like to know the answer to this too
chilli
As far as I know, yes! Files can be transfered to and from an IPOD, you can even use it to transfer non music files. Can't remember if the itunes interface will let you drag mp3's off - I think it will though, but if not you can view the whole ipod like a removable drive and drag the songs off manually, should be easy as anything
qaisar
but whenever i hook up the ipod to the computer itunes starts up automatically and so the music on the ipod gets replaced with that on itunes, anyway of stopping this?
Supra_Nish
but whenever i hook up the ipod to the computer itunes starts up automatically and so the music on the ipod gets replaced with that on itunes, anyway of stopping this? Yes. Edit -> View Options -> iPod -> Manually manage songs and playlists. You can then just drag and drop whatever you like.
Supra_Nish
Pump gas dude, I'd say try it with one track, if it works great, if not bummer. I know its possible with non officially downloaded tracks if you get my drift. I would seriously doubt that it wouldn't work.
IDO
If you go to your itunes preferences on the computer with tunes you want (think you may have to have a ipod attaced, make sure its not yours or it will sync' and wipe what you have on there), and make sure there is not a tick in the pref box saying "automaticaly sync' or update ipod in conection" either that or it says "update ipod manualy".. it should then let you just take the files you want... to get the tracks off ipod i use a bit of software called ipod extractor which i down loaded free of the net.. takes it straight from the Ipod and puts it in itunes if you are using a mac and cant find this software PM me and i'll try and find you a copy but if you do a search on the net you should find something... hope this helps.. Keith C
The answer is no - at least for music bought through the Apple music store. Music bought through that is 'locked' to the account that bought it, and will only play on computers or ipods that belong to that account - and I believe a computer/ipod can only belong to one account at a time. Supra-Dupra
The simple answer is YES........BUT before plugging your Ipod into his pc to get his music go to itunes and change the settings from AUTO Sync to manual as when you synch, your tunes are not in his library hence they will be removed from the Ipod, and his will be loaded ! The loss of about 6000 songs thought me this
