oxygene
Sorry for the lateness in posting this thread, but we had a busy day yesterday and today has been equally busy. As all of you know, the laws in the UK allowing gay couples to marry was passed on 5th Dec. We couldn't have the ceremony for 16 days after the registration, which was yesterday. The ceremony was excellent, the registrar performed the ceremny without a hitch. But just incase, he gave us advanced apologies if he slipped up, as the Civil Partnership ceremony is different to his usual ones. We had our reception at the local Cricket Club House. The ladies there put on a lovely spread and the wedding cake(s) was provided by our very own master of the piping bag, Sheena aka Amazing Grace. More pictures will follow from the event, but attached this message are a few tasters. Also attached are some press cuttings from the local newspapers "Western Daily Press" and "Gloucester Gazette"

From the number of gay marriages happening lately it seems there were loads of people that have been waiting for this change in law for a long time and don't want to wait any longer. All the best for the future.

oxygene
Hehehehehehehe Thanks for all your kind words guys "Good luck to you! Interesting article says youve wanted to do it (get married) for a long time and but that youve only known each other 18 months!!" What we mean is, we have wanted to be able to marry and be with someone as a married couple for a long time. "Does one of you change their surname or anything?" Yeah we are going to double barrel the surname so it will be Anderson-Amesbury. We have to draw up a Statutory Declaration of name change to do that, which we can do ourselves (you can find the documents online and change the words to suit) nad get it sworn at a solicitor, costing £5-£10 per person. We are hoping we are gonna get some work coming in again soon, we can then plan our honeymoon, which is probably gonna be in the USA. I have got a telephone interview with a company in a couple of minutes, so fingers crossed. I got an unwelcome wedding gift from Wiltshire Constabulary yesterday too. An SP30 going through Wilton A36. Ahh well shit happens!!!
