chilli
2jz-gte is a torque monster, I could drive everywhere in 6th lol, I do love accelerating in 6th from low speeds, the acceleration goes on forever and just gets faster and faster edit: final drive is geared to around 196mph isn't it? so I guess you could hardly call it a short gear... still not long enough for some people
lambertpig
heres my veiw. your consideration for auto manual should be based on your drives. i wanted a manual because its considered a true sports car but in reality 70% of my miles are in town 25% are on motorways and 5% are on country lanes in the end i bought an auto and am so pleased its like no other auto ive driven saab aero,e55 amgaudi a8 the power delivery is perfectly mated to the fantastic autobox and i have to agree with the coments about arcade game driving experience.i may try a few 1/4 miles in it once the bpu s are finished and i hear that the auto is superb for this better than the 6 speed unless you are a highly experienced drag racer.however when i bought the car i thought "have i done the right thing?" so i borrowed my girlfreinds celica 5 speed for a day and got bored changing gear on my journeys very soon. so think about what your miles will be ,your driving it not some track day fan off this site plus if you go for an auto you can go full bpu with the change. imi
The only way to tell is to drive one mate. Personally I love my auto, but asking on here means that everyone will recommend the one they went for. EXACTLY

I've got a Manual TT, and Im no Drag racer.. BTW: The Supra is capable of 170-180mph....while the legal limit is 70mph...so by your logic....one shouldnt really be driving a Supra. The 3Ltr engine has so much torque as it is, so you hardly need to wrestle with the gearbox even in town. Drive both and see how you get on. Shaun.
Just my 0.02.. I, like many here, had always vowed never to buy and own an Automatic anything. Then I went to see a soop, it was a fantastic spec (bit too expensive ) but was an auto but i thought I might as well test drive it as I had travelled to see it (well another but that was a dog but at the same garage) and i was plesently suprised. I have owned a 6 speed and that's fantastic but so is the auto but in a different way. As others have said, you have to give it a go. Shaun.
