tbourner
What do people do with polished lips on alloys? I know I can't use wonderwheels on a split rim, so that's out. I tried some metal polish on it that says it can be used on chrome and stainless and alloy etc.. Seemed ok didn't do any damage but I don't trust it. Someone told me to put wax on the lip (I assume it was normal polish and not proper carnauba wax!), and then wash it off with fairy liquid and re-apply when it gets dirty enough. Good idea? Especially with the current weather, it gets dirty pretty quick, and I'm getting those annoying tar spots and water stains on the lip - it's rubbish! Bobbeh
Are your wheels laquered? I use some Turtle wax extreme wheel cleaner stuff and thats worked for getting off grime and brake dust/tar especially. You do need to give it a good rinse off too as the stuff is strong but it brings out the bling
RICHARDA
Are they chrome lip or polished alloy with laquer over the top? Would'nt recommend the use of fairy as it contains sodium and will strip any wax protection that you have built up. HTH
tbourner
I think they're polished, not chrome.

nickyboy
One cloth to apply and wipe around. Another clean one to buff. Takes quite a lot of effort this time of year.
