Justin
Putting braided hoses on. (trying to) Is this the correct nut I should be unscrewing? It's just that it is stuck fast and my spanner is rounding it off. As it is attached to the car I'm scared of knackering it before I go at it hammer and tongs to get it off only to find out it is the wrong thing to be undoing. Thanks
Terminator
Yes this is the nut but it sounds like you are using a normal OE spanner. Stop dont bugger it . There is a special spanner for this I have one if you want to borrow it. Ring me.
Justin
Cheers for the spanner Termy. Got one off but the other one is rounded and stuck fast .....b*llox! Any ideas folks
dude
Dude your gonna have to be brave , cut the hose just above the nut and force a socket onto it , you should have done this to start with or used the corect spanner , BTW dont cut the hoses unless you are replacing them folks:stupid: John:flame Dev
Terminator
Dude, wont that will mean a new NSR brake line to the hose union?
dude
Termmy dude that'l teach me to look at pics when im knackered from driving back from TOTB , its the pipe he's got to cut:( so as he can take off the hose , by ruining the nut there is no option, it is very easy to replace the brake line (just follow it to the other end and take the whole lot to any garage where they will make a new line )and he has to bleed the brakes any way . Chris Wilson
Too late, you've *uggered it. You need a self tightening wrench now, one that bites harder as you pull harder. I have a couple, and treat them like gold, as in the small size you need they seem incredibly rare nowadays. I think they are made by Gedore. Chris Wilson
Figure D at: http://www.diynetwork.com/diy/tl_wrenches_pliers/article/0,,DIY_14398_2269917,00.html But mine are smaller with narrower jaws. I often ask for something similar at tool vendors, but haven't found EXACTLY what I want yet. The ones I have I bought in the sixties...
