Jake
I've got a set of Wiseco pistons here for my VVTi engine rebuild. In the box is a sheet of paper saying: IMPORTANT! Many of Wisco's pistons are manufactured with pin offsets to match O.E. factory pistons. For best results, these pistons must be installed with the pin offset in the same direction as factory pistons. What does pin offset mean? The only thing I can think they might be referring to is the gap in the gudgeon pin circlip. Anyone know?
Digsy
No, the gudgeon pin is actually offset to one side of the engine. i.e. not on the same centreline as the crank. Sometimes by up to 1mm. Pistons with pin offsets are usually marked with a forward-facing arrow somwehere on the crown.
