Christian
Due to having an FMIC, my active spoiler is fixed in the down position. The question; If I were to remove it, could it have any beneficial or detrimental effects at TOTB?
Steve W
you could FLY ! ! everyone on here says different... some say they CAN feel it's more unstable ("floaty"?) some say they can't ? ? I presume Toyota put it there for down-force at speed but..... also - probably as you're thinking ? - ANY extra spoiler WILL reduce top speed.... downforce or not ! ! (remember the RS Cossie Escort ? you could buy that new with/ without rear spoiler !.... WITH, it was supposed to handle better... WITHOUT, it had an OFFICIAL higher top speed quoted by Fords ! ! ..I think it was about 4mph extra ?) FatS.
Nathan
Hi Chris, I've heard several reports about the Supra feeling a bit 'wayward' at high speed without the front spoiler lip but I've never tried it personally. I guess that TOTB would be a good, safe ® place to try but even with an open area if she gets out of shape at 170mph+ you're going to dilate a bit chap. Good luck for tomorrow though. We've all got our digits crossed for you. No doubt there will be a lot quicker cars out there but hey at least you haven't had to do an engine rebuild for 5 odd years... Best of luck Nathan TDI PLC
Supra Pilot
Top statement Nathan! Christian, leave the spoiler on for the trip up the M1/A1 for testing purposes at high speeds:D .... sorry cruising speeds, and all in the name of testing........ Then stop at a services half way to remove it and then try again without it and see if it's a difference......... At least this method 1/ you will have something to do/occupy your time on the long drive. 2/ give the baby a good shake down/warm up. 3/ you'll get there quicker/early and be able to chill out! Anyway Chris, 'good luck and have fun m8!'

Steve W
( actually, thinking about when I was up at Elvington at the practice.. I'd say it's not the RUN you need the spoiler for... MORE the sharp 180 U-bend at the end ! ! Even at my meager 156-ish, that end-bend was a bit sharp ! and I HAD the spoiler down..... If you're aiming for ~175/185 area, then that end 'suprise' is gonna be even 'sharper'.... admittedly, I was trying not to completely FRY me newish discs/pads so, a better man probably won't find that bit so sharp at all ! ? )
