SkyJawa
I've got the dash off fitting a defi boost gauge, which needs ground, live 12v, ignition 12v and illumination 12v (eg when the lights get turned on) Anyone got suggestions as to the best places to connect to? Running out of light soon
Matt Harwood
You can get all those supplies from the dash top section. Might be a good idea to take the permanent 12v supply from a more powerful source like the stereo, but I have no idea how much current draw the Defi's have. SkyJawa
Bugger - got it all working, but the illumination is wrong! Anyone know where to connect it to for when the lights come on? Also, I've got a EGT Gauge and it shows the Defi Control 2 in the instructions and the gauge doesn't appear to be working properly with my Defi Controller 1 - are they not compatible? SimonB
There's a wire you can tap into on the clock I think for illumination. The way it's wired on the Supra is a bit weird though. There's one wire that's +12V when the lights are on, and a variable ground that varies from 0V when the light dimmer is on fully bright to +12 when it's turned right down. Since add-on gauges only have one wire, you have to connect this to the +12V one, which means the light on your gauge won't dim when you dim the other lights.
