o2 sensor location and replacement on UK car

Hi,

My mate has a UK car, I believe one of the o2 sensor is the same position as a pre-vvti jap tt - on the down pipe?

Whereabouts is the other o2 sensor and how do you replace it, I think it's in the nearest cat?

Toyota have told him that if thats to be replaced, the wiring goes under the passenger seat so the passenger seat will have to come out??!!

His MOT failed on the Lambda readings.

Thanks,

Ro

Hi Ro

The wireing goes under the driver seat. The socket is located under the mid consol in front of the handbrake(under the carpet). You have to get a arm under the carpet to pull the sensor into the car(best way is from the door/sill side). It's a PITA to be honest, but you'll just have to feel your way under there.

Hi,

how bad did it fail on emissions ? if the co level was within limits and the lamda was just above it could just be a small exhaust leaks (joints) or the engine needs to be hotter.

Yup, the co was ok - the Lambda just above!

also if your mate is buying a new sensor try LSUK in sedgwick rd will be the same part but half the price:D

Thanks!

Cheers Abs,
