terribleturner
Thought i'd make yet another dent in my christmas shopping today, and when i hit the dual carriagway i saw loads of vans and trucks and decided i'd floor it so i could get in front before the road filtered into one and goes up a hill. Foot down and i'm sitting at a steady 120 leptons when i notice parked in a side road a cop car Slammed the brakes on and got down to 70ish as i cruised past. Couldn't stop swearing and checking my mirrors but nothing. I reckon they were just setting up because as i got the top of the hill there were 2 bikes on the right and another police car on the left. And 20 yards from that a police camera van watching cars from the opposite direction. definatly my lucky day today
tbourner
Usually I'd say that breaking is the worst thing you can do, much better to drop a few gears and engine break - otherwise they'll see the car lurch forward and the reflection of the break lights!! But from 120 you need to drop A LOT of speed!!!
Class One
You need to lift that vision James! Lol
Scoboblio
Yeah you're right, but the roar of the exhaust during engine braking may give it away too Close call indeed!
terribleturner
I did have the fortune of a van coming between me and the cop car as i started to break so i think that helped. They also began reversing as i went past so i reckon he was looking behind him at the time otherwise i think i would have been in a spot of bother
Suprasteve
tut tut you'd never catch me doing that, shame on you James !
chilli
Sounds like your luck was in today! That could have been very bad! Is that the first time you've seen speed checks there? I always take it easy through places where they might set up. There is an online site for checking locations of speed checks isn't there? I use the sussexsafteycameras site to at least check before going out (only handy in sussex of course)!. Anyway, lucky! maybe this luck counteracts the bad luck you had a while back lol
Dave F
Got that beat. I was sitting at a roundabout tonight with a fiesta next to me when all of a sudden someone went into the back of him. Just got mine back from the bodyshop as well. The panic that goes through you when you hear schreeching brakes behind... Not good!!

terribleturner
Don't use the road alot but never seen the Police there before. Made it also odd because the roundabout that leads onto the dual carriage way there had been a crash no more than a couple of minutes ago and the people were still standing about with water pissing out of their rads. police must have been parked less than 1/2 a mile away. He was more or less uninjured but still had to be cut out of the car. When the fire boys lifted the roof away, the sunroof dropped out and fractured his skull. He was unconscious for three days. I tried not to laugh when he told me that. I failed.
