My understanding was that the ECU would ignore any SAFC changes in the closed loop part of its running, ie the low throttle settings. Therefore it was best to leave them all at zero. However, when I lat had mine mapped by Leon the changes to the low throttle map totally transformed the driveability of the car (for the better) and even after 1000miles there was no sign of the ECU throwing a wobbly or anything.

I thought the closed loop kicked in at low and more importantly consistent throttle openings. Mainly that's idle or cruising at a steady speed. As soon as you accelerate to pick up 10mph or overtake or lift off due to traffic or whatever, it drops out of closed loop. Therefore, setting up the fuelling for the low throttle openings at low rpm is worthwhile after a fuel system upgrade, because closed loop is out of the picture as soon as you try and do something fun :)

Sorry this is a diversion from the main thread but it sounds like Dude's problem that we've tried to remotely diagnose before (and failed :( ) so as soon as Dude figures it out, he can charge you a fortune for the secret :)

I think a post may have been lost when the board crashed....

...you know, the one where someone explained how I can fix my problem in five minutes without any mechanical knowledge and without spending anything.... :innocent:

Seriously though - someone told me (bear with me here) that the first turbo "bleeds" into the second and that there could be a leak in the bleed pipe/tube/? causing the boost to drop off so violently? :conf:

If id known you had this problem at billing i could have shown you what to do , if you get stuck give me a ring or pop down and i'll put my manual switch thingy on your car and we can go for a spin .

Tommorrows fine , if i fit the switch all i can see it showing is that you have an electrical fault (prob the same as mine ) as we will be able to manually activate the vsv,s , if it makes no difference it will be a vacum or pressure tank issue . (even if the switch works we cant leave it on) if your happy with that let me know .

Well its all sorted now, many thanks to Dude for taking the time out to help me this morning, much appreciated

The problem? A 2-3in length of vacuum pipe which was a bit old and knackered and was releasing pressure when it shouldn't have been (thats as technical as I get!).

I can't believe my luck, I was dreading it being something big/expensive!

The Supe's running lovely now, I had a great drive home from John's

Now back to the dyno!!!!

Yep - I did wonder whether I'd get a different result now its sorted. I know obviously the curve will be better but do you reckon because of fixing the leak my peak figures might be higher?

PS. Not well done to me, just John - I just stood and watched :D

Should be slightly higher, bit hard to tell without knowing how big the leak was or which pipe.

But you could safely say higher than before.

It was a small pipe (a couple of inches long) somewhere around here:

And it was purely the fact that the pipe had stretched (due to age?) and wasn't gripping the "bit" that it slides on to properly. (sorry for the non-techie description!)

Yep, it was nice to try it out - I quite fancy being able to swap between standard and TTC on a switch.

Also, its amazing how different the Hiper sounds when set up as a true twin!

whats lag like?

i have still got mine in ttc mode and love it a bit of lag then bang it goes wild. easy to change manually.

wont the power curve be a lot smoother too. i had a bit of trouble with small pipes when you swopping back and forth replaced vaccum pipe and it cures it.

is pete booked up for the dyno machine on 10 of the best 2
