Guest Terry S
Anyone got GPS naviagation for their phone. Supra_Nish
Got this on my 6630, works brilliantly. I wouldn't pay that price though, "evaluation" versions are available and a bluetooth gps unit can be picked up from ebay for about £50. CJ
Will something like that work on the Sharp phones or is it just Nokias?
Clarkey
Terry ... A friend of mine has Tom-Tom. Can get it for you. The BT GPS receiver and your phone will work with no problems. But make sure you have a fair sized memory card. I'd recommend at least 512 Megabytes - that's for a complete software install with maps & still quite abit of space for additional storage. Will something like that work on the Sharp phones or is it just Nokias? I don't think so. As far as I know, Sharp have not yet implemented a Symbian like OS & won't be till next year. All Nokia series 60/90 run the Symbian OS - 3.0 is the latest iirc. . The non-Nokia phones that I know of, that will run Tom-Tom are: Orange SPV E200 , Qtek 8080
Jake
Interesting. I'm tempted to get one of these smartphones. Does anyone have one of these Nokias running TomTom with a car kit? Is the cradle good and sturdy? Does it charge the phone too? Are the TomTom audio prompts played through the car's speakers? Which Nokia has the best screen? (Decent size and screen res) Do these phones have touchscreens?
CJ
"Slight hijack"...What would I need to run Sat Nav with my Ipaq 2200?
Jake
"Slight hijack"...What would I need to run Sat Nav with my Ipaq 2200? I thought you were running TTN ages ago! You need a GPS receiver and a copy of the software
CJ
I thought you were running TTN ages ago! You need a GPS receiver and a copy of the software I tried and failed miserably to sort it out. Unfortunately, you are talking to a complete technical numpty here
Clarkey
Can't answer those questions now - as I haven't worked on the Nokia car-kit projects. But I can find out for you. I'll send you a PM Monday/Tuesday. Which Nokia has the best screen? (Decent size and screen res) Do these phones have touchscreens? The 7710 is an awesome bit of kit. Primarly it's an internet tablet. Touch screen too. Or there is the 6680 or 6681. Not touchscreen - but a good phone. All three have the Symbian OS.
