anyone changed a front wheel bearing themselves,

wheres the better place to buy one from.

is it a difficult job ?

any help would be good.

im still having problems with my power steering, a replacement rack was ftted and i dont seem to have power steering unless the revs are increased above 1200 rpm and even then its only partial.

the fluid level is full up, i was told they were self bleeding and to steer left to right to bleed it through, after 20 minutes of doing this it is no idfferent at all.

if you go back to tickover at 600 rpm its feels like a non powered steered car, very heavy.

any ideas please ?

hi

yes my pump still makes that noise when you steer from left to right and the fluid is still foamy, i cant put anymore fluid in it at present, i asumed when it was bled through i would need to top it up.

i was told i didnt need to bleed it as it bled itself.

how do i bleed the system then please

i had the car jacked up both wheels in the air.

the fluid was full up.

i sat for 20 minutes turning from left to right and vise versa.

it made no difference at all.

the level is still the same.

i must admit i didnt do the process slowly but then not fast either.

sometimes it goes easy for a split second and then heavy and then light etc.

but it isnt right.

is this because it is still bleeding out ?

is there no way of helping the situation, like undoing the flow pipe to let it run through, lock it off again and then undo the return pipe, let it bleed out and then lock that off and then perhaps the pipe back to the fluid bottle ?

or doesnt it work like that.

help.

i bought the bearing and hub from Steve Manley at Inchcape Toyota (01865 291330)

i then had my local Toyota Dealers fit it for me after i removed the hub assembly and took it in to them

its not DIY im afraid, as a press is required to fit the bearings into the carrier.

hi thnaks for the advice on the wheel bearing, i have a press etc and have already stripped my hub down, ive pressed the old bearing out, my problem is locating another one.

i could remove the wheel bearing i have in another hub and replace it with that one, no problem if your carefull, this is why i was asking if there was a difference to size of bearing between jap and uk.

i changed the rack has mine had broken, even with the rack broken i still had power steering, so i know the pump etc works fine, im wondering if the electric valve is playing up thats actualy on the rack.

i will truy and bleed it through manualy.
