lust2luv
Hi My Concept 300 has just started acting weirdly. When activating or deactivating it no longer chirps at all (although lights still flash and it locks and immobilises okay). The only thing I can come up with is that this is a sign the siren back-up battery is drained. Does that sound right? Presumably that's a cheap & easy replacement from Sextons? Where's that nice guy Matt?
foodfreak
hi, I'm not sure if the 300 has an option to turn off the 'chirp' you can on the 600 & I did by mistake. ........ small buttons & my big fingers John
lust2luv
I think you can silence it by pressing two buttons at once, but you need to do that every time, otherwise you need to play around with the button in the car to turn the chirp off permanently. Matt Harwood
Hi Sean, Your diagnosis of duff internal batteries could be spot on. To test this, set the alarm then trigger it. It should trigger porperly. When the Clifford battery back siren batteries die, they will stop chirping but will still sound the siren. The chirps are generated by using the sirens internal power whereas the actual siren sounding will initially come from the vehicles battery. Hope that helps. lust2luv
Cheers Matt, you're a star! Just been and done the siren thing (it works), only to discover it's chirping once more! I guess I can expect it to stop again, maybe the siren's battery level is borderline? Cheers again
Matt Harwood
They do get a bit eratic before totally dying. As an average, the batteries usually last about 3 - 4 years.
Supra_Al
Hi Lust, exactly the same happened to me with my clifford on my Cosworth. As Matt has said it's the sirens internal back up battery that is failing for some reason............how old is it? lust2luv
2 and a bit years, although I did manage to drain my car's battery a few months ago, so that may have used up a bit of it's juice, plus I'm always triggering it by mistake!
